To draw at the last minute, Messi and Inter Miami clash with PSG in the knockout round of the Club World Cup

This result helps both teams advance to the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025™, regardless of the result of the remaining match in Group A between Porto and Al Ahly (4-4 draw).

However, Inter Miami only finished second in Group A due to a goal difference (+1 compared to +2) compared to Palmeiras, despite having the same 5 points after 3 unbeaten matches with 1 win and 2 draws. In the round of 16, Inter Miami will face PSG in a match taking place at 11pm on June 29 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Meanwhile, Palmeiras will meet Botafogo in a Brazilian derby at the Club World Cup at 11pm on June 28.

Inter Miami's clash with PSG is also an exciting reunion for Messi and the Paris team, where he had two relatively successful seasons (winning two Ligue 1 titles and one French Cup). At PSG, Messi and the Argentina team were also crowned World Cup champions in 2022, before he left in the summer of 2023 when his contract expired to join Inter Miami until now.
