On the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, after opening, the market went down due to strong selling pressure. However, from nearly 9:30 a.m., improved demand helped the market rise again and surpass the 1,500 point mark.
At the end of morning trading, VN-Index stopped at 1,507.14 points, up 12.2 points.

In the afternoon session, money flowed strongly into the market, especially VIC stock, which had a remarkable performance spreading across the market. Towards the end of the session, demand became better, and the market increased more strongly.
At the end of the session, VN-Index stopped at 1,528.19 points, up 32.98 points (2.21%); VN30-Index reached 1,653.22 points after gaining 39.11 points (2.42%).
Green almost covered the electronic trading board when there were 242 codes increasing in price, 89 codes decreasing in price. In the VN30 group, only 1 code was red, the rest all went up.
The industry groups with the highest growth were consumer services, real estate, securities, and banking.
In the real estate group, VIC increased to the ceiling, contributing the most to the VN-Index with nearly 7 points; followed by VHM with 2.21 points.
Banking stocks also contributed positively to the market. In this group, only 1 code decreased in price, 1 code remained unchanged, the rest increased. TCB contributed more than 2 points to the VN-Index, VCB (1.75 points), CTG (1.7 points), BID (nearly 1.4 points),SHB (1.19 points).
In this session, SHB (Saigon- Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank) continued to increase to the ceiling price, reaching 18,600 VND/share, bringing the series of days of increasing to the maximum amplitude to 8. SHB's capitalization reached the 3 billion USD mark. This code achieved the 2nd highest liquidity in the market with more than 1,600 billion VND transferred.
This bank has just announced August 19 as the record date for shareholders to receive stock dividends. Accordingly, SHB will pay a 2024 dividend at a rate of 13%, through the issuance of 528.5 million shares, increasing its charter capital to more than VND 45,942 billion, continuing to maintain its position in the top 5 largest private commercial banks in the system. Previously, SHB completed the first dividend payment in 2024 in cash, at a rate of 5%.
Market liquidity was high, with nearly VND43,000 billion changing hands. Foreign investors sold heavily in this session. They bought nearly VND2,700 billion and sold approximately VND13,000 billion.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased by 3.41 points (1.29%) to 268.34 points; the HNX30-Index stopped at 577.92 points, up 8.19 points (1.44%). The total transaction value reached more than VND3,000 billion.
