In recent years, the movement of donating land to expand rural roads in Thanh My commune has been spreading strongly, becoming a bright spot in the construction of new rural areas. In just a short time, people in the residential groups of Ha Ra, Dong Ram, Hoa, Dung, Pa Dau 1 have voluntarily donated more than 3,000m2 of land to expand many spacious and clean concrete roads to the village alleys, meeting the needs of travel, transporting goods and developing the local socio -economy.
In Dong Ram residential area, the old narrow mountain road was replaced by a traffic route of more than 3km, after the community participated in land donation and expansion. The newly expanded road, paved with concrete, runs straight towards the mountain, ensuring convenient traffic for people and vehicles, especially during floods.
Mr. Blum Mung, Head of Dong Ram residential group, said that in Dong Ram, people have repeatedly volunteered to donate land to expand residential roads and community space. Because people are aware that supporting this meaningful common policy brings great benefits in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security, especially facilitating trade activities with the outside.
“In the past, the roads were narrow, making it difficult for people to travel and transporting agricultural products. When there was a policy to open the road, village officials went to each household to persuade them and analyze the pros and cons. Fortunately, everyone understood and agreed to donate land to widen the road without asking for compensation.
Thanks to that consensus, the roads in Dong Ram residential area were widened from 3m to 5m to reach each household. The new roads are wide and airy, not only convenient for traffic but also contribute to changing the appearance of the countryside, improving the quality of life of local people", Mr. Blup Mung shared.
According to Mr. Bnuong Dong, Deputy Head of the Department of Culture and Society of Thanh My commune, the movement of people donating land to open roads comes from community awareness and responsibility for the common good.
Many households donated dozens of square meters of land next to their houses, even voluntarily dismantled gates and moved old trees to make way for roads. This is a clear demonstration of the solidarity of Thanh My people, contributing to the widespread movement of "All people unite to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas" in mountainous communities.
“With the consensus of the people, over the past years, the Thanh My commune government has spent billions of dong from the National Target Program on Socio-Economic Development in Ethnic Minority and Mountainous Areas to build and upgrade residential roads, ensuring convenient travel, gradually meeting the criteria for building new rural areas,” said Mr. Bnuoch Dong.
