On April 7, Lam Dong General Hospital 2 said it had performed emergency surgery on a teenage boy who had a sharp knife about 30cm long stuck straight into his left eye socket.
The patient is NLH (15 years old, living in Tan Lam commune, Di Linh district), admitted to the emergency room late at night on April 6.
The emergency surgery took about 30 minutes. The surgical team, doctors and nurses removed the knife from the patient's eye socket.
Currently, H. is continuing treatment at Lam Dong General Hospital 2.
According to a representative of Lam Dong General Hospital 2, the knife tip was not too deep into the facial bone, so after emergency treatment, the patient's health was stable. The damaged left eye is being monitored for treatment.
According to the patient's family, on the evening of April 6, H. held a kitchen knife and "performed" dancing in front of his house. While performing the knife dance movements, the knife's handle fell off and was stuck straight into the teenager's eye socket.
The hospital also recommends that accidents like H's are similar to many work accidents, and that removing foreign objects during emergency treatment requires the opinion of a medical facility. Removing foreign objects on your own during an accident often leads to more serious conditions.
