Hon Gai Coal Company invests in many key projects

Hon Gai Coal Company is simultaneously managing and exploiting 3 mining projects: The project to maintain, renovate and expand the capacity of Cai Da - Suoi Lai area, with a capacity of 300,000 tons/year, operating until 2029; the Suoi Lai extension underground mine project (phase I), with a capacity of 700,000 tons/year, operating until 2034 and the project to exploit the depth below -75 of Binh Minh mine (Thanh Cong), with a capacity of 1 million tons/year, operating until 2027.

The Company's average annual output remains at 2 million tons, with revenue of VND2,600 - 2,800 billion, creating stable jobs for about 4,000 workers. However, due to the characteristics of scattered, small-scale projects and short mine life, the Company always determines to invest in key projects to ensure stable production and sustainable development.

In preparation for the new development phase, on November 4, 2023, the Company started the project to exploit below -220 at Binh Minh mine. With a design capacity of 500,000 tons/year, the project has a basic construction period of 4 years, expected to reach design capacity in 2027.

In particular, on August 19, the underground mining project of the Ha Rang mine extension was started, marking an important turning point in the Company's development strategy for the period 2025-2030. With reserves of over 8.9 million tons of clean coal, an exploitation period of 17 years, contributing VND 230 billion/year to the state budget, the project affirms the long-term vision in improving production capacity, ensuring jobs and creating stable growth momentum for the unit.

According to the plan, the first furnace is expected to be put into operation in the first quarter of 2028. The Ha Rang project will contribute to promoting the overall progress, creating more jobs and increasing income for workers; when completed, it will contribute nearly 40% of the Company's raw coal output, ensuring economic efficiency, environment and labor safety.

Mr. Nhu Van Luc, Head of the Center, Mine Manager of Ha Rang area, affirmed: After the groundbreaking ceremony on August 19, the construction units mobilized maximum human resources and machinery to speed up the tunnel digging progress at 3 mirrors, striving to reach 180-200m of new tunnels each month. The tunnel digging teams and groups actively competed in labor, determined to complete the progress and ensure safety in each production shift.

The company also aims to maintain stable output at existing projects, accelerate the tunneling progress at Binh Minh mine to complete ahead of schedule, ensuring the mine reaches a capacity of 500,000 tons/year from 2027. With the Ha Rang project, immediately after the groundbreaking, the main and auxiliary wells will be constructed simultaneously, closely following the progress schedule, and carefully preparing for early exploitation. In particular, in the three-mine interconnection project, the company is determined to complete the site survey in 2025, prepare a report in 2026 to prepare for investment steps and start the project.

The production area at the mining project is below -220 at Binh Minh mine.

In addition to ongoing projects, the Company is also actively coordinating the implementation of exploration projects at Suoi Lai and Ha Rang, as a basis for reporting to the Group and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to upgrade reserves, preparing for the project to connect the three mines of Ha Rang - Suoi Lai - Binh Minh. This is considered a strategic project, expected to start construction in 2030, exploiting to level -500, with industrial reserves of 60 million tons, capacity of 2 million tons/year. If implemented as planned, this will be a connected mine ensuring long-term, stable development of Hon Gai Coal Company.
