On August 1, the Department of Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime Prevention of Quang Ninh Provincial Police issued a warning to people about sophisticated fraud that has appeared in the area recently.
Quang Ninh Provincial Police inform people to be vigilant against tricks of installing fake applications with the logo of the Ministry of Public Security to steal messages containing OTP codes from banks.
Specifically, the authorities have received a complaint from a citizen in Quang Ninh province denouncing the suspects for fraud impersonating police officers and appropriating money in bank accounts through internet banking transactions. Previously, on July 25, Ms. LTN (residing in Gieng Day Ward, Ha Long City, Quang Ninh) received a call from a person claiming to be a police officer of Quang Ninh province, threatening and accusing Ms. N. of participating and being an accomplice in a money laundering and drug trafficking group. The suspect asked Ms. LTN to declare her personal history, some work and travel history from March 15 to present, and the amount of money currently in her bank account.
