Teacher suspended for slapping child during mealtime

Ho Chi Minh City A kindergarten teacher in District 3 was suspended from teaching after a viral video showed her slapping her students repeatedly while feeding them.

Mr. Luong Trong Binh, Deputy Head of the Departmentof Education and Training of District 3, said at noon on April 7 that the incident happened at Kindergarten 4 a week ago.

According to him, the school report said that a student was "physically impacted" by the teacher during lunch. The teacher was pregnant and had health problems that day, so her behavior was not up to standard. In a subsequent meeting with the school and the student's family, she admitted her mistake and apologized.

"The teacher is very uneasy," said Mr. Binh.

According to Decree 71 of 2023 of the government , the female teacher is subject to disciplinary action after being pregnant.

On March 29, a video went viral on social media showing a teacher in black feeding two children. During this time, she pushed one child into the table, causing him to sit on the floor. When the boy stood up, she swung her arm and hit him repeatedly in the face and head, then walked out. A moment later, the teacher returned and elbowed the child in the face again. In another video, the teacher pressed the child's head into a bowl of rice.

Kindergarten 4 was established in 1991, is a public school in Ward 4, District 3. The school currently has two campuses at 407 Dien Bien Phu and 84A Cao Thang, taking care of children from 16 months to 5-6 years old.
