On March 20, according to information from the People's Committee of Quang Tri province, Acting Chairman of the People's Committee Ha Sy Dong has just signed a decision on converting the purpose of forest use to implement the project of the Road connecting Quang Tri Airport with National Highway 1 (phase 1).
Accordingly, the purpose of use of more than 9.2 hectares of forest was changed. Of which, the planned protective forest area is more than 0.63 hectares; the planned production forest area is more than 8.65 hectares. This forest area belongs to sub-area 609A, Gio Mai commune and sub-area 610, Gio Quang commune, Gio Linh district.

The acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Ha Sy Dong, assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to preside over and coordinate with agencies and localities to closely inspect and monitor the conversion of forest use purposes to other purposes in accordance with the provisions of law, ensuring the correct scope and boundaries of the forest area converted for use purposes. At the same time, implement replacement forest planting and update forest developments for the area converted for use purposes to implement the project.
Assign Gio Linh District People's Committee to direct relevant units to carry out compensation and site clearance; closely inspect and supervise the conversion of forest use to other purposes in accordance with regulations.
The project of the route connecting Quang Tri Airport with National Highway 1 has a total investment of nearly 90 billion VND, from the central and provincial budgets; implementation period is from 2022-2025. The project is invested by the Quang Tri Provincial Investment and Construction Project Management Board. Phase 1 of the project has a route length of nearly 2.9 km, the starting point intersects with the Eastern bypass of Dong Ha City, section km 10+971, the end point connects the road to Quang Tri Airport.
The project aims to gradually complete the province's transport infrastructure system; connecting with regional transport infrastructure and eastern tourist areas in Gio Linh district. In particular, phase 1 of the project will complete part of the route connecting the airport from National Highway 1 to the coastal road according to the approved Quang Tri Provincial Planning, making an important contribution to serving the socio-economic development in the area.
