Since implementing the project "Building Da Nang - Environmental City", the city has mobilized the active participation of people and the community. Thanks to that, the city's landscape and environment are increasingly clean and beautiful. According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, in 2024, the whole city had 2,224 campaigns with more than 69,425 people participating in preserving and protecting the environment; 5,682km of sewers, drainage ditches, and roads were cleared; more than 343 tons of reusable and recyclable waste were collected, the total amount of money collected from this activity was more than 2.9 billion VND. Currently, wards and communes are organizing the classification of domestic solid waste at the source, contributing to reducing landfill waste. In recent years, the Department has issued a plan for emulation and commendation under the theme "Da Nang City Environmental Award" to create a competitive atmosphere among all levels of government, organizations, individuals and communities participating in environmental protection activities, contributing to the effective implementation of the project "Building Da Nang - Environmental City" in the period of 2021 - 2030. From 2021 to 2023, 37 organizations, 20 individuals and 12 communities were honored and commended.
In the spirit of the project "Building Da Nang - Environmental City", Thanh Khe district issued the project "Building Thanh Khe - Environmental District" for the period 2021-2030. Deputy Head of the District's Department of Natural Resources and Environment Le Thi Thanh Huyen informed that drainage infrastructure and wastewater treatment are synchronized with the implementation of projects; environmental pollution hotspots in Phu Loc River and Phan Lang open canal have been basically handled. The district maintains lake sanitation, installs and releases aquatic rafts at 29-3 Park Lake, Xuan Hoa A Lake, 2ha Lake and Bau Lang Lake, to improve water quality and beautify the landscape of the area. To handle bulky waste, the district plans the locations of bulky waste collection points in the area and wards widely inform the people.
The project implementation has the close coordination of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district, the district's socio-political organizations. Thereby, localities and residential areas have built many effective models such as "Safe - civilized - clean alley", "Waste battery collection house", "Environmentally friendly residential area", maintaining the movement "Green - clean - beautiful Sunday"... In addition, recyclable waste is collected by grassroots associations and organizations according to the model of "Social security flower vase", "Battery house"... Up to now, the District Women's Union has maintained and expanded 385 social security flower vases. In 2024, 583 million VND was raised and 228 kg of used batteries were collected.
In Cam Le district, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the district Tran Tuan said that the district Front coordinated with the district Department of Natural Resources and Environment to carry out environmental protection and climate change response work in the period of 2021-2025. In order to achieve positive results in the coordination work, the Front and the ward unions organized 52 propaganda sessions for the people; 11 propaganda sessions for dignitaries, officials, and followers of religions on environmental protection, anti-plastic waste, and classification of solid waste at source... Through the propaganda sessions, many households gradually changed their awareness and actions; 100% of believers did a good job of protecting and preserving the surrounding environment. Since then, many good and effective models have emerged, such as the model of "Environmentally friendly residential area", "Urban civilized route", "Bright - clean - safe alley", "Club for environmental protection, responding to climate change" at Trung Buu Holy See (Khue Trung ward), "Buddhists of Hoa Tho pagoda for a green - clean - beautiful environment" (Hoa Tho Tay ward), "Religion with the environment at Hue Quang pagoda" (Hoa An ward)... The implementation of the above models has contributed to creating a strong change in awareness and changing the behavior and habits of Buddhists, Buddhists and people in environmental protection work.
Recently, at the launching ceremony of the Action Month for the Environment, World Environment Day (June 5) organized by the City People's Committee in coordination with Hai Chau District, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee Nguyen Van Duy called on officials and people to actively participate in environmental protection activities. Specifically, reduce the use of disposable plastic items, actively classify garbage at home, bring recyclable plastic waste to collection points; join hands to clean up beaches, rivers, lakes and public areas; maintain hygiene and collect garbage at locations participating in major events of the city and district, especially during the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) in 2025.
In 2020, 2021 and 2022, Da Nang was the leading locality among 63 provinces and centrally-run cities in the Provincial Environmental Protection Index (PEPI). In 2021 and 2023, Da Nang won the Vietnam Smart City Award in the field of "Smart, Green, Clean Environmental Management City". |
