President of the Senate Mohamed Ould Errachid warmly welcomed and highly appreciated the important significance of the official visit of National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly to the Kingdom of Morocco. Expressing his affection and considering Vietnam a close friend, President of the Senate Mohamed Ould Errachid assessed that the Vietnam - Morocco relationship has been tested through history and has continuously developed well in many fields, especially people-to-people exchange.
Emphasizing the determination of the two countries' leaders in expanding foreign relations, Senate President Mohamed Ould Errachid conveyed the greetings of Moroccan King Mohammed VI to National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and senior Vietnamese leaders, and expressed the King's respect and interest in promoting cooperative relations with Vietnam.
The President of the Moroccan Senate said that Vietnam and Morocco have written common history pages, building a loyal relationship between the two countries' parliaments and peoples with a deep foundation after nearly 65 years of establishing diplomatic relations. Mutual assistance and support in the struggle for national liberation as well as symbols such as the Morocco Gate in Vietnam and the Vietnam Gate in Morocco are precious legacies of the two peoples.
The Moroccan Senate is ready to coordinate with the House of Representatives to promote cooperation with the National Assembly of Vietnam, especially at international inter-parliamentary forums and on development agendas to build a mutually beneficial partnership for the benefit of the people of the two countries. On that basis, President of the Senate Mohamed Ould Errachid suggested that the two sides actively develop joint projects within the framework of South-South cooperation, especially projects on sustainable development in Africa, and take advantage of the strategic location as a gateway for each other in developing relations in each region.
For his part, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed his joy at his first official visit to Morocco and was impressed by the warm welcome given to the delegation by the President of the Moroccan Senate, the Moroccan leaders and people. On this occasion, the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly once again respectfully conveyed the greetings of General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to King Mohammed VI, the President of the Senate, the Moroccan leaders and people.

Appreciating the important socio-economic development achievements that the Moroccan people have attained in the process of implementing the “Vision 2030”, the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly emphasized that the goal of the visit is to consolidate and further strengthen the good cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries, creating momentum to expand bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Appreciating Morocco's position in North Africa, with free trade agreements with more than 50 countries and being an ideal bridge for Vietnamese goods to penetrate African and European markets, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man suggested that the two sides study and negotiate a new trade agreement to replace the agreement signed in 2001, remove tariff barriers to facilitate goods from both countries to access each other's markets and increase trade promotion activities, organize fairs, exhibitions... to increase the currently modest bilateral trade turnover.
The Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman also suggested that the two sides promote cooperation in the fields of finance and banking, build a transparent and effective payment mechanism to minimize risks in international payments; and asked Morocco to share its experience with Vietnam in developing international financial centers. The two sides agreed to encourage two-way investment in sectors such as high-tech agriculture, renewable energy, food processing, and establish transparent information channels on market demand and trade policies to support businesses of the two countries in accessing business opportunities.
Regarding parliamentary cooperation, the two sides agreed to closely coordinate at multilateral forums, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Parliamentary Union, promote exchanges between young parliamentarians and female parliamentarians, and periodically organize forums and workshops to share visions and build long-term cooperation initiatives.
The two sides also agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations, promote dialogue, exchange legislative experiences, build a legal framework in digital transformation, respond to climate change and develop a green economy, promote parliamentary diplomacy to connect cooperation between ministries, sectors and businesses; effectively implement existing cooperation mechanisms, promote cooperation and share experiences in areas of strength such as industrialization, energy transition, education, health, reform, innovation in thinking towards sustainable development, etc.
The two sides discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, agreeing to promote the settlement of disputes by peaceful means, not using or threatening to use force on the basis of respect for international law and the United Nations Charter.
On this occasion, National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man respectfully invited Senate President Mohamed Ould Errachid to pay an official visit to Vietnam soon. The Moroccan Senate President happily accepted the invitation.
