Of which, the lightly infected area is 698.4ha; moderately infected is 334.3ha; heavily infected is 50.2ha. Small leaf rollers cause light infection of 1,034ha; moderately infected is 1,760ha; heavily infected is 30ha on early-season rice. The estimated area that needs further control on early-season rice is 6,800ha, on mid-season rice is 10,545ha.

Sheath blight disease has appeared and caused damage to rice fields, the common disease rate is 2 - 8%, high 10 - 17.3%, locally 24%. The infected area is 1,241.1 ha; of which 965.5 ha is lightly infected, 275.6 ha is moderately infected. Currently, the erratic weather, with prolonged rain accompanied by hot weather and high temperatures, is a favorable condition for pests to arise and spread rapidly, potentially greatly affecting the productivity, quality and output of the winter-spring rice crop.

To control pests and ensure production safety, the Department of Information and Communications has sent a document to the People's Committees of communes and wards to focus on implementing a number of key tasks: Directing specialized agencies, agricultural service cooperatives and farmers to strengthen field inspections, monitor weather conditions; coordinate with the regional Information and Communications Station to urge and guide people to prevent and control pests and diseases promptly and effectively.

Strengthen propaganda work on the development of pests, risks of harm, and technical measures for prevention during peak periods in many forms. Continue to deploy concentrated rat extermination using traps and biological baits. Use pesticides on the list, prioritizing pesticides of biological origin; collect pesticide packaging after use in tanks to avoid environmental pollution.
