People can now present their Driver's License on VNeID

To solve the problem of lack of Driver's License blanks, the Traffic Police Department has just issued a policy to create conditions for people to drive vehicles after passing the test or completing the procedure for issuing and exchanging a Driver's License on the system. Driver's License checking is carried out electronically, through the VNeID application, contributing to creating convenience and meeting the legitimate needs of the people.

Accordingly, the Traffic Police Department (TSD) has just come up with a timely solution: people only need to pass the test and successfully complete the procedure for issuing and exchanging their driving license on the system to be eligible to drive on the road. This is considered a breakthrough policy, demonstrating the support, listening and solving difficulties for people by the authorities.

In urgent need of a driver's license to go to work, Ms. Bui Thi Ngoc, Van Xuan commune, expressed her agreement with the above policy because she would not have to wait long, causing work interruptions. She shared: "Currently, almost everyone has a smartphone and a level 2 VNeID. Therefore, this policy meets the great needs of the people and contributes to the digital transformation of all levels and sectors."

When not having a hard copy of the driver's license, people must present the driver's license on VNeID or the driver's license number when checked.

To ensure that the control of driving licenses is carried out smoothly and transparently, the Traffic Police Department requires the Traffic Police force to check people's driving licenses in the electronic environment. People can provide driving license information on the national identification application VNeID, or provide driving license number, citizen identification number, or appointment paper issued by the Traffic Police.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Tran Van Nam - Deputy Head of the Traffic Police Department, Provincial Police, "The process of issuing electronic driving licenses takes place immediately after the candidate passes the test. The data will be sent by the testing team to the Traffic Police Department to issue a driver's license number. Next, the data will be transferred to the Department of Administrative Management of Social Order to update the people's VNeID application. Finally, the results will be announced to the Police of the provinces, cities and centers where the candidate took the test.

People only need to pass the driving test to be eligible to drive.

However, there are still some problems in the implementation process. The lack of hard copy driving license blanks is due to the implementation of procurement procedures according to regulations. Moreover, the design of license blanks and standards also takes about 2-3 months. Along with that, the cost of purchasing blank cards also encountered problems after the police force took over the task of organizing testing, issuing car driving licenses; changing and re-issuing driving licenses; issuing international driving licenses from the old Transport sector (now the Construction sector).

To ensure the rights of the people, the Traffic Police Department also recommends: In case the Traffic Police do not accept the checking of driving licenses in the electronic environment or require a hard copy of the driving license, people can report to the authorities for support in resolving the issue.

The new policy not only solves the immediate problem of the shortage of driving license blanks but also opens up an important step forward in traffic management using technology. At the same time, it also creates favorable conditions, reduces administrative procedures, helping Phu Tho people in particular and the whole country in general feel more secure when participating in traffic.

This is a bright spot, demonstrating the efforts of the authorities in building a digital society to serve people better and better.
