Regional Customs Branch XVII: Efforts to develop customs-business partnership

Over the years, Regional Customs Branch XVII has made continuous efforts to accompany enterprises, considering them as reliable partners. Along with reforming customs administrative procedures, taking people and enterprises as the center of service, Regional Customs Branch XVII also pays special attention to customs-enterprise dialogue activities.

Listen and understand businesses

Regional Customs Department XVII is assigned to manage the state customs in 3 provinces: Long An, Tien Giang and Ben Tre . Currently, there are more than 2,600 enterprises carrying out customs procedures at Regional Customs Department XVII. Identifying the customs-enterprise dialogue as one of the practical activities, demonstrating the spirit of openness, frank and constructive dialogue between the customs and the business community, in recent times, Regional Customs Department XVII has regularly organized dialogue activities with diverse contents and forms.

Head of the Regional Customs Branch XVII - Nguyen Trung Hai affirmed that all comments, feedbacks, difficulties and problems from businesses were answered clearly, fully and with quality.

Through the HQ-DN dialogue sessions, the gap between businesses and state management agencies is gradually narrowed. This is also an opportunity for the staff, civil servants and employees of the HQ Regional Office XVII to listen to and understand businesses, thereby contributing to strengthening the trust of the business community.

Attending the HQ-DN Dialogue Conference on June 19, 2025 organized by the HQ Region XVII in coordination with the Vietnam Industry Support Alliance, Vice Chairman of the Long An Provincial People's Committee - Huynh Van Son highly appreciated the proactive spirit of the HQ Region XVII in organizing the HQ-DN Dialogue Conference. This is a practical activity, demonstrating the spirit of accompanying businesses, contributing to removing difficulties, promoting production, import and export (XNK) and improving the investment and business environment in the locality.

At the same time, Mr. Huynh Van Son emphasized that the conference is not only a forum to remove difficulties and obstacles but also a form to concretize and effectively implement Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW, dated May 4, 2025 of the Politburo on private economic development. This is a correct and timely policy, demonstrating the deep concern of the Party, the Government, all levels and sectors, identifying private economic development as an important driving force for the development of a socialist-oriented market economy. In addition to organizing HQ-DN dialogue conferences, the HQ-VXII Regional HQ Department also diversifies the forms of removing difficulties for businesses through hotline numbers, emails, social networking applications, and direct information at the HQ agency.

In the first 6 months of 2025, the Regional Customs Department XVII made 303,244 customs declarations, an increase of 16% compared to 2024; import-export turnover reached 10.4 billion USD, an increase of 8%; State budget revenue reached 2,273 billion VND, an increase of 8%, equivalent to 50% of the estimate assigned by the Prime Minister in 2025.

Do not let the files backlog and prolong

Head of the Regional Customs Department XVII - Nguyen Trung Hai said: “At the dialogue sessions, all comments, reflections on difficulties and problems from enterprises were answered clearly, fully and qualitatively. Contents beyond the authority were compiled to report to competent authorities for consideration and resolution as soon as possible. For specific issues, the unit requested enterprises to send complete records and documents to the Customs units under the Regional Customs Department XVII for consideration and handling in accordance with legal regulations”.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Hai, the information contributed by the business community through the HQ-DN dialogue sessions is valuable and useful, helping the HQ Regional Office XVII have more information to review and improve business processes; at the same time, recommending competent authorities to make adjustments to facilitate import-export and business activities of enterprises.

Currently, there are more than 2,600 enterprises carrying out customs procedures at the Regional Customs Branch XVII.

In recent years, despite facing many challenges from the domestic and international economic context, with solidarity and unanimous efforts, the HQ-DN partnership has become increasingly close, together overcoming difficulties and achieving many impressive results. Notably, in 2024, the import-export turnover of goods reached 20.2 billion USD, an increase of 24% compared to 2023 and an increase of 166% compared to 2015. The state budget revenue reached 4,782 billion VND, an increase of 21% compared to 2023 and an increase of 132% compared to 2015.

It can be affirmed that the business community in the area has made important contributions to the local economic growth, state budget revenue and import-export turnover of the whole country. With the motto of taking people and businesses as the center of service, the Regional Customs Department XVII always strives to reform administrative procedures, modernize customs management, and aim to build a professional - transparent - effective customs force.

“In the coming time, the Regional Customs Department of Region XVII hopes to continue to accompany businesses, creating favorable conditions to support import and export. In particular, the Regional Customs Department of Region XVII expects businesses to continue to comply with customs laws, contributing to ensuring a transparent and effective business environment; coordinate in providing information, supporting the fight against smuggling and trade fraud; accompany customs in digital transformation, applying technology to improve efficiency and reduce procedure processing time” - Mr. Nguyen Trung Hai added.

Mr. Huynh Van Son suggested that the Regional Customs Department XVII continue to proactively coordinate, promote and support investment incentive policies to attract more investors to the province; pay special attention to the production and business situation of enterprises affected by the new US tariff policy; accompany and support enterprises in the process of import and export procedures, recommend administrative procedure reforms to facilitate enterprises;... Provincial departments and branches must focus on reviewing, receiving comments and reporting the results of handling and responding to all recorded recommendations. In cases beyond their authority, they must immediately report to the Provincial People's Committee, not allowing them to linger.

With high determination and great efforts, we believe that in the coming time, enterprises will continue to accompany local authorities and the Regional Customs Department XVII in the goal of digital transformation, digital customs, and smart customs, contributing to the completion of the task of collecting the State budget in 2025./.
