Regarding the credit information incident at the National Credit Information Center (CIC), the Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police has just warned people to be vigilant against possible scams in the near future.

According to the Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, the case of many personal information such as: Bank accounts related to personal data at CIC being hacked and stolen by cyber criminals will leave many consequences for the people. This is a huge source of data that can be exploited by subjects to carry out more sophisticated fraud tricks.

Analysis by the authorities shows that in the coming time, people may face the following forms of fraud: Impersonating banks, CIC, State agencies calling, texting, sending emails with full name, ID card number, account number... to notify "bad debt", "verify information", thereby enticing victims to provide OTP passwords; fake debt cancellation services, increasing card limits: targeting students and workers who need to borrow money quickly, low interest rates; impersonating relatives, leaders: taking advantage of detailed personal information to create trust, requesting urgent money transfers; calling to threaten the law: claiming to be police, the Procuracy, the Court, threatening to be "involved in a money laundering case", forcing people to transfer money to "safe accounts"; spam SMS, zalo, emails containing malicious links: tricking users into clicking on fake links to steal more data.

The target groups are students (easily lured by offers of loans for studying or part-time jobs); workers and civil servants (often receiving bad debt warnings and fake credit information); the elderly and those with little knowledge of technology (easily believing calls impersonating banks or police, or mistakenly clicking on strange links).

The Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police Department recommends that people do not provide passwords or OTPs to anyone via phone, text message, or email. Do not click on strange links; only log in to the bank's official application or website; verify information via hotline or directly at the bank or competent authority; do not transfer "verification" money to an unknown account.

Especially for students and workers, absolutely do not believe in advertisements for "CIC debt cancellation" or "fast loans with 0% interest rate." For the elderly, families should remind and guide them on how to recognize fraudulent calls and messages.

The Criminal Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police, emphasized that after the largest data leak ever, cybercriminals will become more sophisticated because they have real information of the victims. Every citizen needs to be vigilant, proactively update warnings from the police force, banks and mainstream media.
