The Information Technology Department, State Bank of Vietnam, said that recently, through monitoring network safety and security, it has discovered a number of websites created to impersonate the electronic information portal of the State Bank of Vietnam .

This agency discovered that there are at least 2 websites that are impersonating the official electronic information portal of the State Bank (absolutely do not access, only monitor to identify fake pages) https://sbvhn[.]com and https://state-bank[.]vercel[.]app.

Some websites are spreading and tricking users into downloading APK files (the format of application installation files on the Android operating system) with attached malware. These malware-containing software will help scammers bypass most authentication and protection measures of mobile devices. From there, they steal personal information and bank account information to appropriate money and assets of victims.

The State Bank affirmed that this agency only has 1 official electronic information portal (website) at the address: https://sbv.gov.vn.

For addresses of unknown origin or showing signs of forgery, people should absolutely not access them, not provide personal information, and only download applications from official application stores such as Apple App Store (on iOS operating system) and Google Play Store (on Android operating system).

Not only Techcombank and Vietcombank but also the State Bank have their websites impersonated by criminals to insert malicious code.

According to the reporter of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper, the situation of impersonating credit institutions to commit fraud still occurs, although commercial banks continuously warn and update fraudulent tricks.

Absolutely do not provide account information, bank card, avoid losing money unjustly

Techcombank has continuously warned of many tricks of impersonating the bank’s brand and bank employees to commit fraud. Recently, the bank said that there was a situation of fraudsters forging documents with stamps and signatures impersonating Techcombank’s staff and managers.

Reasons such as annual fee refund, opening/closing/increasing limit/renewing credit card… then tricking victims into accessing fake links or providing information. From there, they steal money from the victim’s account.

Banks confirm that these are scams and warn customers not to click on strange links, not to provide card information, accounts, or personal information, to avoid being scammed and losing money.
