According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on September 1, many areas across the country will continue to experience thunderstorms, with the potential risk of extreme weather events.

In the plains, coastal areas of the North and the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue, scattered showers and thunderstorms are forecast, with rainfall ranging from 10 - 30 mm, with some places over 50 mm. Meanwhile, from the evening, the South Central, Central Highlands and Southern regions will experience showers and thunderstorms with rainfall ranging from 10 - 40 mm, with some places over 80 mm.

Meteorological experts warn that thunderstorms may cause tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. There is a high risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas, and flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas when heavy rains are concentrated in a short period of time.

Previously, from 7:00 p.m. on August 31 to 3:00 a.m. on September 1, many places recorded quite a lot of rain. Some notable places include: Ia Toi ( Kon Tum ): 84.8 mm; TrHy (Da Nang): 78.0 mm; Tung Ba 2 (Tuyen Quang): 68.2 mm; Le Thuy (Quang Tri): 67.4 mm; Tra Xinh (Quang Ngai): 63.6 mm; Se San 3A Hydropower Plant (Gia Lai): 63.2 mm.

The meteorological agency recommends that people in high-risk areas should actively monitor forecasts and warnings of heavy rain. Local authorities and functional forces need to prepare response plans, especially at vulnerable points at risk of landslides and flooding.
