After more than 8 years of starting a business and working on the production of essential oils from medicinal plants, 2025 is the first year that Mr. Mai Van Cong, Director of Thanh Cong Medicinal Plant Production and Consumption Cooperative (Tien Thon village, Yen Thai commune, Yen Mo district) has applied growing melons in greenhouses and net houses.
Mr. Cong said: Growing melons in greenhouses and net houses is a completely new production method for the cooperative. However, he has learned a lot of experience and information from articles and news programs and learned that growing plants in greenhouses and net houses in Yen Mo district is very effective with a growing area of up to tens of thousands of square meters.
Many typical examples of pioneers in producing agricultural products in greenhouses have had high incomes such as Mr. Tong Viet Vinh (Khanh Thuong commune), Mr. Phung Van Lanh (Yen Tu commune)...
Through information from the articles, he connected directly with producers, learned, invested in building new garden areas of up to 2,000m2, improved and distilled experience in automatic irrigation systems, mouse and insect protection systems to optimize production costs. Thanks to that, although it was the first trial crop of Japanese milk melon, it brought high economic efficiency.
Specifically, with 2.5 months of care, the yield reaches 7 tons/crop, each year can cultivate 5 consecutive crops, selling price 25,000 VND/kg, reaching revenue of 175 million VND.

For example, in Yen Mo district, the district's Department of Agriculture and Environment has implemented a Resolution on developing organic agricultural products, applying high technology, ensuring food safety and building new rural areas in the district in the period of 2022-2025, in which the district supports 40% of the cost of building greenhouse and net house models with a minimum area of 1,000m2 to grow melons and vegetables according to VietGAP standards, applying Israel's water-saving irrigation technology.
Up to now, the area of greenhouses and net houses in the district has reached over 25,000m2, with revenue reaching 3-3.5 billion VND/ha. In practice, the press is a "filter" of reliable information so that when the subject appears on the newspaper pages, it is an affirmation of brand value and geographical indication.
