Selling E10 gasoline, will we eliminate RON 95-V mineral gasoline?

Many users are wondering that from January 1, 2026, the market will simultaneously sell E10 gasoline, so what will be the "fate" of RON 95-V mineral gasoline?

According to Mr. Bui Ngoc Bao, Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association, the Ministry of Industry and Trade 's viewpoint is to eliminate mineral gasoline. E10 is not a product but there are many types of E10RON95, E10RON97...

A user still decided to fill up with RON 95-V gasoline after being advised to try E10.

"Learning from the experience of implementing E5 gasoline, the management agency may consider completely eliminating RON 95-III mineral gasoline and only selling bio-fuel," said Mr. Bao.

According to the Chairman of the Vietnam Petroleum Association, current petroleum business decrees stipulate that the State only manages common consumer goods at emission standards level 2 and 3; higher levels are managed by enterprises, so enterprises may still be allowed to maintain the sale of higher-grade mineral gasoline, RON 95-V.

However, the representative of a petroleum wholesaler said the latest information he has is that when E10 bio-fuel is mass-marketed, mineral gasoline will be eliminated, including RON 95-V.

"This is a reasonable solution for consumers and businesses. Stores cannot sell many items at the same time because they are also related to mixing, pumping stations, logistics..." - said the representative of the above business.

Since August 1, some gas stations of Petrolimex and PVOIL have been testing the sale of E10 gasoline, a biofuel gasoline with 10% ethanol content, higher than E5 gasoline (5% ethanol) in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and Hai Phong.

Each liter of E10 gasoline is about 240 VND/liter cheaper than RON 95-III mineral gasoline (a popular consumer product on the market). However, many consumers are still hesitant to use this product due to concerns about its quality and impact on vehicle engines, especially for cars and large-scale motorcycles.

Mr. Minh Viet, Thai Ha street, Hanoi , said that his car is a large distribution line so he has not decided to use E10 gasoline but still fills it with RON 95-V gasoline. "I am willing to use E10 but need to carefully research whether my car is suitable or not" - he said.
