For the cost of the 2024-2025 school year, the Youth Union of Ca Mau Radio and Television Station connected with the Le Thanh Tam Charity Fund ( Ho Chi Minh City) to support more than 80 million VND. Accordingly, each month, the Le Thanh Tam Charity Fund sends the support amount to Tan Tien Commune Union, both paying and managing the number of students attending school, promptly encouraging and supporting disadvantaged students to have more will to study.
Living at Gia Long Den estuary, for Huynh Thao Vy, taking a boat is the only way to get to school. “When you came to support part of the boat trip, it helped reduce the financial burden on my parents. I promise to study hard so as not to disappoint everyone’s help,” Thao Vy confided.
Having completed grade 6 at Tan Tien Secondary School this year, Huynh Hoang Khoi could not hide his feelings when recalling the difficult days of going to school, along with the late classes when it rained. "The uncles and aunts came to give gifts, life jackets, and school supplies, so we felt more secure and safer on the way to class," Khoi shared.
In order to encourage and support the children here, in mid-June, the Youth Union of the Newspaper and Ca Mau Radio and Television Station organized the activity "Summer at the Seaport". A small boat carrying members of the units and sponsors took about 30 minutes to travel from Tan Tien Commune People's Committee to Gia Long Den seaport residential area. This is also the daily route to school for children living at this seaport.

There is no playground, but the stilt house of the people, where summer activities take place with the participation of more than 40 children, is still no less joyful. Here, the Youth Union of the Newspaper and Ca Mau Radio and Television Station in coordination with the Youth Union of the Provincial Youth Union brought a bustling atmosphere with many games, homegrown art performances performed and competed by the children. In addition to games, group activities, and giving gifts, the Youth Union of the Newspaper and Ca Mau Radio and Television Station also mobilized Vietravel Ca Mau Branch to support 29 gifts including backpacks and school supplies for students. At the same time, 12 scholarships were awarded to students with high achievements in the 2024-2025 school year, each worth 500,000 VND. The total cost is more than 15 million VND.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhu Hang, representative of Vietravel Ca Mau Branch, shared: “The journey of more than 30 minutes by boat to get here, I feel exhausted, so I appreciate even more the efforts and diligence of the students at Gia Long Den estuary who have overcome difficulties to go to school. The unit will continue to accompany and support the students more”.
Having accompanied the program “Safe ferry for students at the seaport” for many years, according to Mr. Doan Ky Nam, Deputy Secretary of Tan Tien Commune Youth Union, the support of the program and many meaningful activities for this place have helped the children and their families make more efforts, allowing them to go to school. Thanks to the material and spiritual encouragement, at the end of the last school year, many children achieved excellent academic results, which is like a thank you from the children to the sponsors.
The program "Safe ferry trip for students at the sea gate" of the Youth Union of the Newspaper and Ca Mau Radio and Television Station has been maintained for 9 school years, continuing to bring small encouragement from journalists to children at Gia Long Den, also a bridge of charity connecting support from benefactors, giving strength to the young shoots who are overcoming difficulties to go to school every day./.
