On April 30, the Times Higher Education (THE) organization announced the 2024 Asian university rankings with 739 schools from 31 countries and territories. Vietnam has 6 representatives in the rankings. Ton Duc Thang University is in the top 200, also the highest ranked school in Vietnam. Following are Duy Tan University (group 251 - 300), Hanoi University of Science and Technology (group 501 - 600), Hanoi National University (group 501 - 600), Hue University (group 601+), Ho Chi Minh City National University (group 601+).

In Asia as a whole, China has five universities in the top 10 this year, up one from last year. Tsinghua University and Peking University in China have retained their first and second positions for the fifth consecutive year. Both have made significant strides in research quality. Following them are two Singaporean universities, the National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University. Japan's University of Tokyo has also risen from eighth place last year to fifth place. In addition to Singapore, Hong Kong also has two representatives in the top 10. The top 10 universities in Asia are as follows: The 2024 Asian University Rankings include 739 universities. With 119 schools, Japan is still the country with the most representatives this year. India is next with 91 schools. The ranking results are based on 18 indicators similar to THE's world university rankings, but adjusted to suit the characteristics of Asian schools. The 5 criteria groups include: Teaching (learning environment); Research environment (volume, income and reputation); Research quality (citation impact, research power, research excellence and research influence); International outlook (staff, students and research) and Transfer (income and patents).
