4 Southern Lao provinces congratulate Vietnam National Day

On September 3, the leaders of Gia Lai province had a meeting and worked with the delegation of Southern Laos on the occasion of the delegations visiting and attending the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Gia Lai province. This visit contributed to consolidating and promoting the friendly relationship and cooperation for development with the four Southern Lao provinces of Attapeu, Champasak, Sekong, and Salavan.

At the reception, Deputy Secretary of the Khammouane Duongphabang Provincial Party Committee of Attapeu province sent his best wishes to the Party Committee, government and people of Gia Lai province on the important occasion of the 80th anniversary of the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Mr. Kham-bun Duong-pha-bang wished the friendship and cooperation between the two provinces of Attapeu - Gia Lai as well as the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States and peoples of Laos - Vietnam, Vietnam - Laos to increasingly blossom and bear fruit.

Also at the meeting, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Governor of Salavan Province Padomphon Sonthani expressed his deep gratitude and thanks to Gia Lai province for its coordination, attention, support, help, and contribution to the task of building and developing Salavan province.

Mr. Padomphon Sonthani hopes that Gia Lai province will continue to support, assist and coordinate with Salavan province to implement the cooperation contents between the two sides to achieve new and greater successes. Wishing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Laos and Vietnam and Salavan and Gia Lai provinces to be forever green and sustainable.

Receiving the delegations, Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Anh expressed his sincere thanks to the Lao Party, State and Party Committee, Government, generations of leaders and all people of the Southern Lao provinces for always trusting, caring, accompanying and supporting Gia Lai province throughout the past journey of cooperation and development.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh believes that the special friendship and solidarity between Gia Lai province and the southern provinces of Laos will continue to bear fruit, so that the people of the localities can proudly write new and increasingly bright pages in the history of friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos as well as between Gia Lai province and the southern provinces of Laos.

In the past, Gia Lai and Binh Dinh provinces (before the merger) have always maintained, consolidated and promoted the friendly relationship and cooperation for development with the four southern Lao provinces of Attapeu, Champasak, Sekong and Salavan. The two sides regularly organize exchange activities, visits and congratulations to each other on the occasion of the two countries' holidays and New Year. The two sides have also signed many cooperation phases with comprehensive cooperation content in many fields.

From 2021 to present, the two sides have coordinated to implement cooperation programs according to the Memorandum of Understanding for the 2021-2025 period and achieved some important results such as: Regarding education and training, Gia Lai has granted 235 scholarships to students from 4 southern Lao provinces to study at universities and colleges in the province. Currently, there are more than 120 Lao students studying in the province.

In particular, Binh Dinh province (old) has supported 60 billion VND to 4 provinces of Southern Laos (15 billion VND each) to build friendship projects. These results have affirmed the right policy and direction in comprehensive development cooperation between Gia Lai province and the provinces of Southern Laos.
