On September 9, Apple will officially hold the "Awe Dropping" event to introduce a series of new devices, focusing on the iPhone 17 product line. As expected, the iPhone 17 will have four versions: iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Along with the launch of new products, Apple will also implement a familiar business strategy: discontinuing some older devices. This move is intended to "clean up" the product portfolio, stimulate sales for new models and has been successfully applied by Apple for many years.
Experts say that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are likely to be on the list of discontinued models. This has happened with previous Pro versions such as the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 14 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro.

According to information from Tom's Guide , Apple will also discontinue the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. Previously, at the end of February, the company discontinued the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus after announcing the iPhone 16e.
However, just because a model is discontinued doesn't mean the product will disappear from the market completely.
Mr. Nguyen Lac Huy, CellphoneS media representative, explained: "There are a number of reasons why products are discontinued, such as old configurations or price segments that can affect each other.
On the official website, Apple has stopped selling some products such as iPhone 13, iPhone 14. However, these devices are still distributed through the company's authorized dealers in Vietnam.

The move to kill off older devices helps Apple "clean up" its product line on the market.
The strategy of discontinuing old products is considered appropriate, helping Apple "clean up" the product range on the market. Keeping too many models can make it difficult for users to choose.
Furthermore, if older models continue to be sold at lower prices, they could become direct competitors to the newly launched iPhones themselves.
Mr. Nguyen Van Giau, representative of the US Mobile system, commented: "Apple has been doing this continuously in recent years. Reality proves that Apple is right when its products are clearly classified, helping users to choose according to their needs and financial capabilities."
