Informing reporters, Mr. Vien Dinh Hiep, Chairman of the People's Committee of Sin Cheng Commune, said: At around 8:30 a.m. on August 7, people in Mao Sao Chai village suddenly discovered a large sinkhole on the road from National Highway 4 to the commune center. Initially, the mouth of the sinkhole was small but then gradually widened. By late this afternoon (August 7), the sinkhole had expanded to a circumference of about 16 m and a depth of 6 m.

Currently, the sinkhole is still expanding; the estimated volume of rock and soil that has collapsed into the hole is nearly 100 m3 .
