Member of the Politburo , Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda and Education Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia chaired the meeting. Attending the meeting were leaders of central agencies, representatives of press agencies and outstanding journalists representing the press community nationwide.

Speaking at the meeting, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia affirmed that the Vietnamese Revolutionary Press founded by President Ho Chi Minh has gone through a 100-year journey accompanying the revolutionary cause of the Party and the nation.
The press has always been a vanguard force on the ideological and cultural front, making an important contribution to the cause of protecting and developing the country. During the two resistance wars, “the press was the voice of the front and the rear”; more than 500 journalists sacrificed their lives for noble ideals, their blood mingled with the motherland, with the flow of national history... That dedication and sacrifice will forever be a shining symbol of revolutionary journalists.
Entering the period of innovation and international integration, the press continues to affirm its pioneering role in propagating the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; reflecting the people's thoughts and aspirations; spreading examples of good people, good deeds, good models, and creative ways of doing things in social life. The press has become a force accompanying the cause of building and defending the Fatherland in the new stage of development.

Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission Nguyen Trong Nghia emphasized that 100 years ago, President Ho Chi Minh used the press to ignite the revolution. Today, the press must continue its mission of building social trust, fanning the desire for prosperity, and revolutionary press must be brave enough to lead ideology, orient public opinion, and maintain its foundation.
“It is not only a professional requirement, but also an order of the times,” the Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department requested.
Emphasizing the role and mission of the press in the new development stage of the country, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia suggested that revolutionary journalists continue to thoroughly understand the role, function and task of the press in the ideological and cultural work of the Party. The press not only reflects life, but also guides public opinion, encourages action, creates unity of thought and consensus in society.

The press needs to maintain its principles and goals, ensuring the revolutionary, scientific , humane and contemporary character of each press product. The press must also be proactive, positive and creative in propagating the country's important political tasks, especially the effective implementation of the four major resolutions of the Politburo - important pillars contributing to realizing the country's development aspirations by 2045.
Faced with fierce competition from social networks and multi-platform media, Revolutionary Press must strongly innovate both content and form of expression. Each journalist must constantly study and improve their professional qualifications, political will and professional ethics. It is necessary to build a team of journalists who are "lean but elite", have solid expertise, are strong in character, maintain ethics, uphold the spirit of humanity, protect justice and reason.

The press needs to continue to proactively and creatively implement information and propaganda work on important political, socio-economic, defense, security tasks of the country. Propaganda content must both ensure comprehensive requirements and have a focus and key points. At the same time, the press needs to be alert and cautious in handling information, especially being politically sensitive, blocking and filtering bad and toxic information that causes interference and negatively affects people's awareness and public opinion.
On this occasion, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission presented gifts of gratitude to 27 veteran journalists and awarded Certificates of Merit to 123 journalists with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day.
