Identifying 3 players for the Vietnam tennis team participating in Davis Cup

The Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) announced three players who passed the selection round to join the Vietnam tennis team competing in the Davis Cup Group 3 Asia-Pacific region this July in Bac Ninh.

Today (June 15) in Ho Chi Minh City, VTF announced the list of 3 tennis players including Pham La Hoang Anh (Tay Ninh), Dinh Viet Tuan Minh (Ho Chi Minh City), Nguyen Minh Phat (AP Sports) who passed the qualifying round, along with 2 players who did not have to compete in the elimination round, Vu Ha Minh Duc (AP Sports), Nguyen Van Phuong (Army) representing Vietnamese tennis to compete in Davis Cup Group III Asia - Pacific region taking place from July 14 to 19 in Bac Ninh.

Dinh Viet Tuan Minh passed the selection round and entered the Vietnamese tennis team to participate in the 2025 Davis Cup.

There are a total of 7 players participating in the selection, in addition to the 3 players mentioned above, there are also Tran Quoc Cuong ( HCMC), Nguyen Dai Khanh (Binh Duong ), Bui Hoang Anh (Hanoi), Truong Thanh Minh (Tay Ninh). According to the initial plan, the players will compete in a round robin to select the first and second ranked players for the singles team and the third ranked player for the doubles team.

However, after 5 rounds, the coaching staff has identified 3 outstanding faces: Pham La Hoang Anh, Dinh Viet Tuan Minh, Nguyen Minh Phat. Hoang Anh won all 5 matches while Tuan Minh and Minh Phat had 4 wins and 1 loss. Pham La Hoang Anh (18 years old), Dinh Viet Tuan Minh (20 years old), Nguyen Minh Phat (18 years old). Thus, the Vietnamese tennis team continues to rejuvenate towards future success with the expectation of replacing the seniors Ly Hoang Nam and Trinh Linh Giang.

Compared to last year's Davis Cup, the Vietnamese tennis team has one change when Truong Vinh Hien did not participate and was replaced by rookie Nguyen Minh Phat.

In this Davis Cup group 3, there are 2 strong teams, Thailand and Indonesia, so the immediate goal of the Vietnamese tennis team is to stay in the rankings and at the same time strive to compete for a spot in the play-off group 2. Tennis player Vu Ha Minh Duc is the main player in the singles event while Nguyen Van Phuong is in charge of the doubles event. Dinh Viet Tuan Minh, with his good ability in both singles and doubles, is also expected to perform with the Vietnamese tennis team at the upcoming Davis Cup.
