The play "The People on the Suburban Side" was newly staged by Meritorious Artist Hoa Ha on the Dai Viet New Cai Luong Stage, which was recently performed on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the country's reunification, and was widely received by the public.
The mark of the new generation of actors
Most of the audience said that actors Vo Minh Lam and Le Tu performed the roles of Mr. Bay Don and Mr. Tam Khoe very well, leaving an impression on the new generation of actors. According to insiders, the new cast of "Nguoi ven do" has replaced the image of the old generation of artists of the Saigon 1 Group with: People's Artist Ut Tra On, artists Thanh Duoc, Phuong Lien, Thanh Thanh Hoa...
People's Artist Huu Danh happily announced that the play "Nang Hai Ben Nghe" (author Ngoc Linh), adapted from a traditional opera by him, will be put on stage by the Ho Chi Minh City Traditional Opera Theater after the National Day holiday. When mentioning this work, the audience immediately remembers the famous artist who played the role of Nang Hai, Meritorious Artist My Chau. Many roles played by Meritorious Artist My Chau have captivated the audience, such as the role of Hieu in the play "Khach San Hao Hoa" (author Vu Kim, adapted into a reformed opera by the duo of playwrights Tran Ha and Dieu Huyen); Nang Hai in the play "Nang Hai Ben Nghe" (the late author Ngoc Linh) and Lan in the play "Tiem Lai Cuoc Doi" (co-authored by Huy Lam, Hoang Kham and Dieu Huyen). "This time, the HCM City Opera House is very confident in passing on the roles to young artists. It can be said that today's young generation of actors has a deep insight into social life and believes that the next generation will successfully perform roles on revolutionary themes" - People's Artist Huu Danh expressed.
People's Artist Tran Ngoc Giau said that he is working hard to stage the play "Comrade" by author Le Thu Hanh, for Trinh Kim Chi stage to participate in the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Festival opening this coming November. This script participated in the writing camp in Ninh Thuan , was highly appreciated and was awarded the A prize in 2023 by the Ho Chi Minh City Theater Association.
Open new directions
Since the beginning of 2024, many revolutionary-themed plays have been staged on stage and on the small screen. The plays include many genres such as reformed opera, drama, opera, and puppetry, opening up a new direction for the stage when most of the works are highly appreciated and receive much love from the audience.

"Theater artists today have put a lot of heart into staging many plays on revolutionary themes. That is the sense of civic responsibility of today's artists, contributing to spreading the spirit of love for peace and the desire for independence and freedom in the hearts of every artist and the public" - People's Artist Tran Minh Ngoc acknowledged.
According to experts, revolutionary scripts are vital because the stories are unadorned, simple, and truthful, and the talent of the artists when performing has created an attraction for viewers, bringing tears and smiles from the audience. "I played the role of a revolutionary mother in the play "Love Answer" directed by Meritorious Artist Doan Ba after the country's reunification. I still remember the atmosphere on the night of September 2, 1978 when performing this play in Cu Chi, the audience cheered enthusiastically, many mothers of the land of steel and bronze hugged me after the performance and said, why did you play about revolutionary mothers, it was like you lived in this homeland" - People's Artist Ngoc Giau recounted emotionally.
"The theme of revolution is very close to our lives, there are red addresses everywhere. Everywhere there are traces of people who sacrificed for the country's independence" - People's Artist Pham Thi Thanh emphasized.
According to Meritorious Artist Ca Le Hong, the reason why revolutionary plays live forever in the hearts of artists and writers is because the work is about soldiers, showing that their actions are not for entertainment but to preserve noble and essential things of humanity: a peaceful and happy life.
