Vietnam consistently values relations with Japan

Following activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023), implementing the agreement between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Japanese Komeito Party, a Komeito Party delegation led by Chairman Yamaguchi Natsuo visited and worked in Vietnam from August 21-23.

On the afternoon of August 22, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, comrade Truong Thi Mai, Politburo member, Permanent member of the Secretariat, Head of the Central Organization Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Parliamentarians' Group, on behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, received the delegation.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai welcomed President of the Komeito Party of Japan Yamaguchi and his delegation to visit Vietnam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries; expressed her belief that the Komeito Party, as the ruling coalition party with the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP), will continue to achieve important results.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai highly appreciated the significance of this visit by Party Chairman Komeito Yamaguchi and his delegation, contributing to strengthening political trust and cooperation between the two Parties, promoting friendship between the two peoples, and enriching the extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia between Vietnam and Japan.

Comrade Truong Thi Mai emphasized that Vietnam consistently values its relationship with Japan and is ready to join Japan in actively contributing to peace, stability and development in the region and the world. Comrade Truong Thi Mai thanked and requested Japan to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Japan.

Mr. Yamaguchi expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam again since his visit in 1991, congratulating the great achievements that the Party, State and people of Vietnam have achieved in the cause of renovation; at the same time emphasizing that the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries is a historical milestone; believing that the relationship between the two countries will continue to develop comprehensively.

The Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party highly appreciated the positive results of the extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia between Vietnam and Japan, clearly demonstrated in cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

The two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining regular high-level exchanges, including on State, Party and National Assembly channels; promoting exchanges between parliamentarians, including female and young parliamentarians; and enhancing people-to-people and cultural exchanges.

On the same day, Party Central Committee member and Head of the Party Central Committee's External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung had a working session with Chairman of the Japanese Komeito Party Yamaguchi Natsuo and the delegation.

Comrade Le Hoai Trung emphasized the appreciation of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for the support and companionship that the Government and people of Japan have given to Vietnam, especially in the socio-economic development and industrialization and modernization process of Vietnam.

The two sides affirmed that they will continue to use many forms of flexible exchanges and contacts to further consolidate and develop relations between the two Parties, enhance mutual trust, and create a solid political foundation for relations between the two countries.
