The new BattlEye anti-cheat system is implemented at the core level, aiming to prevent the growing number of cheaters in GTA Online . However, this implementation makes the game's online mode inoperable on Linux and the Steam Deck, a popular handheld gaming device that many people prefer to play older titles like GTA 5 .

In response to this situation, Valve has decided to refund players who purchased GTA 5 on Linux and Steam Deck. Users can request a refund and will receive their money within 24 - 48 hours.

While Rockstar has yet to respond to the issue, Valve has removed GTA 5 from the list of verified games on Steam Deck. Players who do not want a refund can continue to experience the single-player mode, which works fine on the device.

It is currently unclear when Rockstar will fix this incompatibility issue. Meanwhile, the gaming community is still waiting for an official solution from the developer.
