On the morning of September 12, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City) in collaboration with the Bonghwa District Government (South Korea) organized a program to introduce the “K-Vietnam Valley” project. This is an activity to celebrate the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of official diplomatic relations and affirm the depth of Vietnamese-Korean culture.
The “Vietnamese Village” project in Bonghwa is known as the place to preserve the relics of the Ly Hoa Son family. Started in 2018, the project covers an area of over 118,000 m² with outstanding works such as: One Pillar Pagoda, King Ly Thai To statue, museum and Vietnamese cultural center. The project not only honors the history of the Ly family but also creates a unique space for education , tourism and cultural exchange, bridging the past and the future, while strengthening the sustainable relationship between Vietnam and Korea.
Mr. Kwon Tae Han, Acting Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Ho Chi Minh City, emphasized that Vietnam-Korea relations have made great strides since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1992, especially after being upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2022. He also mentioned the historical connection originating from Prince Ly Long Tuong settling in Goryeo nearly 800 years ago and affirmed that Bonghwa district plays an important role in Vietnam-Korea cultural exchange. He believes that the event introducing the "Vietnamese Village" project at the school will contribute to spreading and strongly promoting the friendly relationship between the two countries.
Speaking at the program, Professor Ngo Thi Phuong Lan, Principal of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Ho Chi Minh City, shared: "This project is not only a cultural and historical work but also a symbol of the nearly 800-year exchange between the two peoples of Vietnam and Korea. This introduction program is an opportunity to spread the special meaning of the work, contributing to arousing national pride and raising awareness among the younger generation about the responsibility to preserve and promote heritage."
