S-125-VT was researched and improved by Vietnam to destroy airborne attack vehicles, effectively destroy low-altitude flying targets, and small-sized targets in complex interference conditions.

At the outdoor exhibition area, General Phan Van Giang stopped for a long time to inspect the display area of ​​the S-125-VT air defense missile system researched and improved by Vietnam.

According to the introduction of the staff at the exhibition area, the S-125-VT air defense missile system was researched and improved by Viettel Group. This missile system is a modernized version of the S-125 Pechora system (Soviet Union).

The S-125-VT is designed to destroy airborne attack vehicles, effectively destroy low-altitude and small-sized targets in complex interference conditions. The complex is also capable of destroying ground and water targets, operating independently or in air defense cluster formations.

Regarding the main combat and technical features, the S-125-VT can destroy 2 targets at the same time, the maximum tilt distance of the damage zone is 30 km, the upper/lower limit of the damage zone is 20/0.02 km; the probability of destroying a target with 1 missile (tactical fighter aircraft) is 90%; the maximum speed of the destroyed target when intercepting/chasing is 800/300 m/s; the maximum target detection distance is 90 km; the deployment and recovery time of the S-125-VT is within 20 minutes.

In the S-125-VT complex, the missile is mounted on the 5P73-VT launcher. This launcher has the function of fixing the missile on the boom, directing the missile to the target; providing power to prepare the missile on the launcher and automatically executing the missile launch command from the command vehicle; deploying and recovering the launcher using an automated hydraulic jack.

The 5P73-VT launcher can hold up to 4 missiles, limiting the missile launch angle in the vertical plane from 8.30 degrees - 64.30 degrees, and preparing up to 2 missiles at the same time, the missile preparation time on the launcher is 30 seconds.

The "heart" of the S-125-VT air defense missile system is the UNK-VT control vehicle, which helps the system detect, lock and guide missiles to destroy targets.

Meanwhile, the UNV-VT radar vehicle is capable of generating and transmitting directional high-frequency energy in space. It receives reflected high-frequency signals from targets, pre-amplifies them, and converts them into intermediate-frequency signals that are transmitted to the control vehicle.

The UNV-VT vehicle is equipped with a modern optical-electronic system with 2 infrared and optical channels, advanced image processing algorithms that allow simultaneous destruction of 2 targets; emits high-frequency signals to question and control the missile, receives the missile's response signals and converts them into visual signals transmitted to the control vehicle.

According to the exhibition staff, Vietnam has now mastered, improved, and replaced many old materials and components of the S-125-VT. Many materials inside the missile have been replaced, only the shell is kept intact to help the missile increase its range, accuracy, and stability. In addition to participating in the exhibition, the S-125-VT missile complex also participated in the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day, September 2.
