FPT University honored by Coursera for outstanding achievements in AI innovation

(Dan Tri) - At the 13th Annual Conference of Coursera recently held in Las Vegas (USA), FPT University was honored as a partner with outstanding achievements in innovation in AI applications for units with outstanding initiatives in teaching and learning.

According to Coursera, this award category is for outstanding units in exploiting artificial intelligence (AI) tools to build innovative, personalized and highly effective learning programs.FPT University is one of the few units in the region to be honored, along with prestigious international partners.

According to Coursera, the award categories are judged on five main criteria: vision, impact, engagement, scalability, and inspiration. In all five of these aspects, FPT University has left a clear mark.

In terms of vision, the school has been early to leverage AI and digital tools to create breakthrough learning journeys for students. In terms of impact, the implementation programs have not stopped at initiating but have created substantial changes, demonstrated by the increasing rate of students and lecturers participating in AI learning and clear results in teaching.

FPT University also scores points in the engagement criterion by building an inspiring learning environment that helps students stay committed and persistent in pursuing their goals. In terms of scalability, the school has not only stopped at a few experimental courses but has integrated AI into hundreds of subjects, considering it a focus in its human resource development strategy.

Finally, FPT University is highly regarded for its ability to inspire, encouraging both students and faculty to continuously learn, spreading the spirit of innovation and contributing to the formation of a sustainable learning culture.

Currently, AI has been integrated into about 140 subjects at FPT University, accounting for 30% of the total number of subjects in the undergraduate training program. Thanks to that, each semester, about 35% of students have access to and practice with AI right in the main courses.

Not only students, staff and lecturers are also encouraged to use AI tools to optimize work, save time and increase productivity. In the 2024-2025 school year alone, more than 1,200 staff and lecturers of the school have completed at least one AI course on Coursera; more than 100 other AI courses are directly exploited by lecturers during the training process for students.

In addition to exploiting available courses on Coursera, FPT University also develops internal AI courses and uses Coursera as a support platform to deploy the Engineer 57 program. This is a training program to equip students with knowledge and skills to become a strategic reserve force in the process of national digital transformation - a major goal that Vietnam is aiming for in the era of national development.

Over the years, FPT University has deployed Coursera in digital transformation of education and training and brought significant impacts on self-study capacity and learning according to global training programs for students and lecturers in various fields.

For 3 consecutive years, FPT University has been honored by Coursera in many categories: Bold Innovator - Faculty Adoption of Online Learning (2022), Campus Transformation Outstanding Achievement Award (2023) and Maximizing Impact Award (2024).

At FPT University, each student completes approximately 20% of their coursework on Coursera; each faculty member completes at least 35 hours of online learning each year. The school also encourages faculty to develop online courses, research technology, and participate in digital training projects to keep up with the needs of education and training in the age of artificial intelligence.

Early deployment and promotion of AI applications helps FPT University create diverse, optimal and global standard learning experiences, while contributing to preparing high-quality human resources for Vietnam's digital transformation goals.
