Can Tho Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company increases investment in modern equipment and machinery at the factory to increase efficiency in energy saving.
In the first 6 months of 2025, the total commercial electricity output of Can Tho City was over 1.66 billion kWh, an increase of more than 35.8 million kWh over the same period in 2024. Of which, electricity used for industry - construction and trade - services accounted for over 50% of the total electricity consumption of the whole city. To exploit the potential for energy saving in these sectors, in the first 6 months of 2025, the Management Board of Can Tho City Export Processing and Industrial Zones coordinated with relevant units to organize a scientific workshop on the topic "Inventory of emissions and greenhouse gases in the industrial sector"; at the same time, organize specialized seminars, disseminate current legal policies on economical and efficient use of energy to state management agencies and enterprises in industrial parks in the city. Thereby, helping enterprises promptly update new legal regulations on economical and efficient use of energy; At the same time, support businesses to connect with companies and units specializing in providing technical solutions as well as new equipment and technology, helping to improve the efficiency of energy saving for businesses.
The Department of Industry and Trade of Can Tho City, together with the electricity sector, also organized training programs, encouraged and promoted businesses, especially key energy-using establishments, to increase investment in the application of renewable energy sources, especially investment in self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power... to serve production and business needs. Thanks to that, many businesses and production establishments using key energy, with an energy consumption level of over 3.5 million kWh/year in the city, have performed well in periodic energy audits; developed annual or 5-year energy-saving and efficient energy use plans; many businesses with sufficient conditions and economic potential have established energy management departments, combined with investment in technology and modern equipment with high power-saving capabilities in the production process, to reduce production costs, improve product quality and market competitiveness, contributing to the city's goal of green transformation and sustainable development.
As one of the key energy-using enterprises, the synchronous application of energy-saving solutions is always given special attention by Can Tho Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company (Caseamex) in Tra Noc 2 Industrial Park. Mr. Huynh Viet Chuong, Head of Caseamex Mechanical and Electrical Department, said: To improve the efficiency of energy saving, Caseamex has invested in a new generation LED lighting system in office buildings, factories, workshops, campuses, and parking lots; combined with the installation of energy monitoring and management meters at production lines; installing additional frequency converters for high-capacity machinery and equipment. At the same time, Caseamex has also invested in new, modern production lines, which both help increase labor productivity and reduce power consumption; Investing in a rooftop solar power system with a capacity of 1MWp, basically meeting 50% of electricity for production needs... Thanks to the synchronous application of many technological and technical solutions along with the use of rooftop solar power in the production process, Caseamex has increased management efficiency, used energy economically, especially meeting the goal of using green, clean energy in the production process, to increase the competitive advantage of the enterprise's exported seafood products in the market.
Along with complying with new legal regulations on energy saving and efficiency, many enterprises in Can Tho City have boldly invested in new technology and advanced equipment in the production process to increase the efficiency of energy saving and labor productivity at the unit. However, in reality, the number of enterprises with a systematic energy management system in the city accounts for only 20-25%. Barriers to the implementation of technology applications and energy saving are due to the fact that many enterprises have limited capacity in energy management and use; lack of policies, incentive mechanisms, and support for investment capital for energy saving projects; lack of consulting services as well as technical support on energy management for enterprises.
To promote the business community to use energy efficiently and convert to green production, the relevant authorities need to provide more support for businesses and production facilities to access preferential policies, especially regarding project investment capital, technology application models, energy-saving equipment to effectively implement energy-saving use at the unit... This will create conditions for businesses to improve energy efficiency, contribute to environmental protection, increase competitive advantage in the market according to the trend of green production and sustainable development.
