RURAL PROGRESS
One of Tien Giang 's outstanding achievements is the completion of the target of 100% of communes (135/135 communes) meeting new rural standards (NTM) before 2025, of which 68 communes meet advanced NTM standards and 14 communes meet model NTM standards.
Many localities that previously had infrastructure difficulties, such as Tan Phuoc district, have "put on a new coat" through new rural construction. |
Along with that, 11/11 districts, cities and towns were recognized as meeting the standards/completing the task of building new rural areas; of which, 2 districts were recognized as meeting advanced new rural standards: Cho Gao and Go Cong Dong.
The most noticeable change is the rural infrastructure system. From coastal rural areas to western districts, the countryside seems to have a new look: spacious, clean and modern. Up to now, the rural transport infrastructure system has been invested in a complete and synchronous manner. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the province has allocated nearly 6,000 billion VND from the provincial budget to support infrastructure investment with thousands of kilometers of rural roads being hardened, 200 new or renovated bridges.
The opening of the rural "traffic veins" has created excitement among the people as the movement and trading of goods has become more and more convenient, as shared by Mr. Bui Van Thanh (Phu Binh Hamlet, Phu Nhuan Commune, Cai Lay District): "The inter-hamlet road in front of my house used to be muddy and difficult to travel. The commune has invested in hardening the 800m road, creating favorable conditions for people in the hamlet to travel conveniently, and agricultural products can now be transported directly from the garden to the market for sale."
Along with that, the rural power grid has received investment attention. From 2021 to 2024, Tien Giang Electricity Company has invested more than 346 billion VND to renovate and develop the rural power grid with 317.5 km of medium voltage lines, 1,193.4 km of low voltage lines and 769 transformer stations, ensuring stable and safe power supply for all rural areas.
Clean water is also gradually "filled" throughout rural areas with the rate of rural households using clean water from centralized water supply stations reaching 96.77%, of which 92% use water that meets the standards set by the Ministry of Health .
Rural areas that previously had many infrastructure difficulties such as Tan Phuoc district have also shown comprehensive innovation. Through the construction of new rural areas, Tan Phuoc district has gradually improved the rural infrastructure system to serve the people.
The difficulty in providing clean water to the land of "flood and alum" has now become a thing of the past when Tan Phuoc district now has 42 rural water supply stations managed and exploited by organizations and individuals, providing clean water for 90.15% of households. Mr. Huynh Van Dung (Tan Hoa Tay commune, Tan Phuoc district) expressed: "Previously, my family and people in the commune had to take alum-contaminated water from canals and ponds and then settle it for use. Since the State built the new rural area, tap water has been brought to the doorstep, my family and people can use it with peace of mind".
To achieve the above results, Tien Giang has mobilized all resources to invest, build and upgrade rural transport infrastructure in the province. In particular, from 2021 to 2025, the province has mobilized a total of more than 167 trillion VND to implement the Program, of which the local budget accounts for more than 7,500 billion VND and people contribute over 1,000 billion VND.
LIVING ENVIRONMENT IS BECOMING MORE AND MORE CIVILIZED
Nowadays, in the rural areas of Tien Giang province, we can easily see that everywhere has become green - clean - beautiful. Environment is a difficult criterion to achieve, requiring a smooth combination of implementation and propaganda.
The Standing Committee of the Provincial and Local Program Steering Committee surveyed a green - clean - beautiful road in Go Cong Tay district. |
In many communes such as Tan My Chanh (My Tho City), Hoa Hung (Cai Be District) or Tan Dong (Go Cong Dong District), the models of "Classifying waste at source", "Collecting recyclable waste for gifts" and the construction of 3,577 tanks to store used pesticide packaging contribute to reducing environmental pollution.
With effective solutions, by the end of 2024, Tien Giang province has achieved many positive results in rural environmental protection, especially in waste collection and treatment. The rate of rural households whose waste is collected and treated in accordance with regulations reached 93.6% of the total number of households, the rate of rural solid waste collected and transported to centralized treatment sites also reached 90%, an increase compared to previous years.
Another highlight of the innovation of the spiritual life of people in rural areas is: Many communal cultural houses, community learning centers, sports fields, and rural libraries have been newly built or renovated to meet the prescribed standards.
The community living space has been opened up, contributing to improving spiritual life, arousing the spirit of solidarity and attachment in hamlets and residential areas. Many cultural living models associated with the Cultural - Sports Centers of the commune have been effectively implemented, creating a useful playground for people after working hours.
The work of building new rural areas has completely changed the face of Tien Giang's countryside after 50 years of liberating the South and unifying the country. This is the result of the determination of the Party Committee, the government and the joint efforts of the people.
Talking about the work of building new rural areas in Tien Giang province, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Program Steering Committee Pham Van Trong said that the work of implementing new rural areas in Tien Giang province is like starting "a machine" when it first started to encounter some difficulties and challenges, so it was relatively slow, but once it got into gear, it ran continuously and became a movement throughout the province.
The work of building new rural areas in the province has not stopped for a single day, even during the Covid-19 pandemic with some localities being recognized as meeting new rural standards. Thereby, the work of building new rural areas in the province has achieved many outstanding results as today.
