The blockbuster deal between Liverpool and Marc Guehi officially collapsed at the last minute.
Although the English centre-back completed a medical and the two sides even submitted transfer documents to the Premier League, the contract could not be signed.

The reason comes from Crystal Palace. After the Igor Julio deal failed to be completed, the London team decided to prevent Guehi from leaving.
This development puts Liverpool in a difficult situation, at least in terms of defensive planning.
Coach Arne Slot sees Guehi as the ideal piece to strengthen the defense after the gaps exposed at the start of the season.
The 25-year-old, who has already established himself in the England team, is expected to add to his competitiveness and gradually succeed Virgil van Dijk.
With the deal falling through as soon as the transfer window closed, Liverpool will have to wait at least until the winter transfer window to have a chance to return to the negotiating table.
Guehi has just one year left on his contract with Crystal Palace, meaning the Selhurst Park outfit are taking a risk and could lose him for free next summer.
Having missed out on Guehi, Liverpool will have to give more chances to Giovanni Leoni - the 18-year-old centre-back bought from Parma.
