Striving to become an international human resource training center

The project's objective is to develop Vietnam Maritime University into a center for high-quality training, scientific research, innovation, technology transfer cooperation, and experimental production.

In particular, the field of transportation and marine economy has reached regional and world level. It is one of the leading centers for training high-quality human resources in Asia in the field of maritime, marine and ocean economy.

By 2030, the training scale will reach 26,000-28,000 students; the proportion of postgraduate students will be about 7.5%; the number of international students will be about 150 people. Priority will be given to key fields such as: marine science; mechanical engineering; shipbuilding; control and automation; marine economics, logistics; marine engineering, marine environment.

Become the top 5 training centers for high-quality maritime and marine economic human resources in ASEAN. In which, the fields of maritime science and mechanical power are ranked in the top 10 in Asia.

The target by 2035 is to have a training scale of 28,000-30,000 students; 10% postgraduate students, 200 international students. Priority is given to the following majors: marine science, mechanical engineering, shipbuilding, remote sensing and navigation at sea, materials, etc.

Become one of the top 3 centers for training high-quality maritime and marine economic human resources in the ASEAN region. In which, the fields of maritime science, mechanical engineering, control and automation, marine economics, and logistics are ranked in the top 10 in Asia.

Orientation to 2045, continue to improve quality, create breakthroughs in training high-quality human resources, scientific research, technology transfer to meet the requirements of sustainable development of marine and ocean economy.

Contribute to promoting socio-economic development, ensuring security and defense in the Red River Delta and the whole country, striving to be on par with maritime universities of developed countries in the Asia-Pacific region and in the world.

5 groups of development solutions

The project builds 5 key groups of solutions for development in the direction. That is to expand the scale, improve the quality of training, especially in key industries and fields with strengths. Develop talent and specialized training programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engineers, masters, doctors, etc.

Priority is given to teaching in English, through cooperation with prestigious international educational institutions and leading domestic and international corporations and businesses.

Innovate training and research methods towards focusing on training combined with practical skills and advanced techniques; promote digital transformation, build databases, and develop digital data warehouses.

Training development orientation focuses on key industries and fields such as: maritime, marine and ocean economy.

Focus on investment, development of facilities, modernization of technical infrastructure, expansion of development space, strengthening conditions to ensure training quality, scientific research on par with the region, towards international standards.

Improve the capacity of lecturers and researchers. Develop and effectively implement mechanisms, policies and breakthrough solutions to attract good lecturers, experts and talented scientists.

Promote scientific research, innovation, and technology transfer. Develop new and upgrade research institutes, laboratories, and experiments to serve research. Develop modern innovation centers. Build and deploy breakthrough models and solutions to mobilize investment resources, incubate research products, commercialize intellectual property, etc.

Strengthen international cooperation and integration. Promote cooperation in training, scientific research and technology transfer with training and research institutions and enterprises of advanced countries in the region and the world.
