Speaking at the Egyptian Defense Exhibition (EDEX), Deputy Minister Tufekci affirmed that Egypt is a long-standing and friendly partner of Turkey. According to him, bilateral relations have been stagnant due to some political developments, but “a revival is imminent.”

Türkiye-Egypt relations showed signs of improvement after the two sides appointed ambassadors for the first time in 10 years.

Deputy Minister Tufekci said that 23 Turkish companies opened booths at EDEX. In addition, 10 other companies participated in the event but did not open booths.

Ankara attaches great importance to Cairo and is looking for opportunities to transfer defense industrial capabilities to Egypt, thereby serving as a springboard to approach other African countries.

He stressed that “great opportunities” await Türkiye and Egypt in the fields of naval affairs, ammunition manufacturing, mechanized equipment, drones, manned equipment and aircraft.
