Vietnam welcomes first storm of the year
By the morning of June 11, although there was no official ban on sea travel, due to forecasts of heavy rain, 497 boats had anchored at ports in the province. Of these, 439 were boats belonging to Ha Tinh fishermen and 58 were boats belonging to fishermen from other provinces.

Specifically, at the fishing port and storm shelter area of Cua Sot (Thach Ha), there are 194 intra-provincial boats and 58 inter-provincial boats; at the fishing port and storm shelter area of Cua Hoi - Xuan Pho (Nghi Xuan), there are 42 intra-provincial boats; at the storm shelter area of Cua Nhuong (Cam Xuyen), there are 74 intra-provincial boats; at the storm shelter area of Cua Khau (Ky Ha commune, Ky Anh town), there are 129 intra-provincial boats.
Fisherman Hoang Van Bach (Thach Kim commune, Thach Ha) shared: "Although there is no ban on going to sea, we still proactively bring our ships to anchor. According to the forecast, we know that in the coming days there will be big waves and strong winds, so going ashore now is to ensure safety. When anchoring at the port, we will regularly contact the Management Board, pay attention to ensure safety, and wait until the weather is stable before continuing to go out to sea."
The Management Board will closely follow weather developments and instructions from provincial departments and agencies to promptly coordinate with relevant units to inform fishermen to grasp and be proactive in the process of fishing at sea. The ultimate goal is to help fishermen grasp all information clearly, thereby being more proactive in responding, contributing to minimizing risks and protecting the safety of themselves and their vehicles.
This morning (June 11), the tropical depression in the eastern area of Hoang Sa archipelago strengthened into a storm, storm number 1 in 2025, internationally named WUTIP.
At 7:00 a.m., the center of the storm was located at about 16.1 degrees North latitude; 113.7 degrees East longitude in the sea east of Hoang Sa archipelago. The strongest wind near the center of the storm was level 8 (62 - 74 km/h), gusting to level 10; moving slowly in the West Northwest direction at a speed of about 5 - 10 km/h.
Forecast for the day and night (June 11), Ha Tinh sea area will have showers and strong thunderstorms. During the thunderstorm, there is a possibility of tornadoes, strong winds of level 6-7 and waves over 2m high.
Warning day and night June 12, the sea area of Ha Tinh has strong northeast wind level 6, sometimes level 7, gust level 8, rough sea, waves 2-3m high.
Ships operating in the above mentioned dangerous areas are likely to be affected by storms, whirlwinds, strong winds and large waves.
