On the afternoon of September 11, Mr. Thai Van Thanh - Director of Nghe An Department of Education and Training - signed a document to send to Thien Nhan Commune People's Committee regarding the temporary suspension of the merger of branch 2, Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School.
Previously, the department received a petition from parents of students proposing not to merge branch 2 into branch 1 because the distance to school was far, posing a potential safety risk for students.
"Considering that the whole country is focusing on implementing the two-level local government model, to ensure stability and create favorable conditions for the implementation of the new government model, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training requests the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune to direct Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School to temporarily suspend the merger of branch 2 into branch 1," the document stated.
The Department also requested the Commune People's Committee to continue to direct the school to prepare facilities and other necessary conditions, and continue to propagate and mobilize parents. The merger will be carried out when receiving the consensus of all parents of students of branch 2.
Secretary of the Party Committee of Thien Nhan Commune, Bien Van Trung, said that the commune will require the school to follow the direction of the department and welcome students back to school tomorrow, September 12.

Many Tuoi Tre Online readers also "offered ideas" to localities and schools to find a common voice and ensure the right to go to school for students.
Tra Hoa shared that the ultimate goal is to ensure that students’ learning is not interrupted. The fact that hundreds of students cannot attend class is a regrettable incident that needs to be resolved quickly and decisively.
Dong Phuong believes that if there is a policy of merging schools, it should be announced early (at least one month, or from the end of the previous school year) so that parents have time to arrange for pick-up and drop-off of their children. At the same time, children also have time to prepare mentally and adapt to the new environment.
"Student safety is still paramount. If this concern is resolved, parents will agree, because everyone certainly wants their children to study in a good, spacious school," said Dong Phuong.
