Nghe An Department of Education and Training proposed to temporarily suspend the merger of schools in Thien Nhan commune.

After parents let their children stay home from school to protest the school merger, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training proposed to temporarily suspend the merger to ensure teaching and learning.

On the afternoon of September 11, the Nghe An Department of Education and Training sent an official dispatch to the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune requesting that Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School temporarily suspend the merger of Branch 2 (in Quang Xa hamlet, Thien Nhan commune) to study at Branch 1 (in Duong Pho hamlet, Thien Nhan commune).

According to the Nghe An Department of Education and Training , in the current context, the whole country is focusing on implementing the two-level local government model. To ensure stability and create favorable conditions for the implementation of the new government model, the Department of Education and Training proposed that the People's Committee of Thien Nhan commune direct Trung Phuc Cuong 2 Primary School to temporarily suspend the merger of Branch 2 into Branch 1.

"The People's Committee of the commune is requested to continue to direct the school to prepare facilities and other necessary conditions, and continue to propagate and mobilize parents. The merger will be carried out when receiving the consensus of all parents of students of Branch 2," the official dispatch of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training stated.

Previously, VTC News Online Newspaper reported that hundreds of parents opposed the merger of Branch 2 (in Quang Xa hamlet, Thien Nhan commune) to Branch 1 (in Duong Pho hamlet, Thien Nhan commune) on the grounds that the distance to school was far, posing a potential safety risk to students. As a result, parents let nearly 140 students miss school for many consecutive days.

Mr. NCH (residing in Thien Nhan commune), a parent with two children attending the school, said: “The old school is still spacious, while the main school is further away, the children have to go through the intersection of the national highway - where many trucks pass by. This is a black spot for traffic accidents, we do not feel secure letting our children go to school through this road.”
