Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev expects the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit to become the culmination of Kazakhstan's presidency, with important strategic decisions to be made.
On July 1, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit taking place in the capital Astana, Kazakhstan from July 3 to 4, will call on the international community to have honest and open dialogue, adopt a new security model, create a fair economic environment and make necessary efforts to protect the global environment.
Mr. Tokayev expects the summit to become the culmination of Kazakhstan's presidency, with important strategic decisions to be made at the summit to further improve the SCO.
In addition, medium-term initiatives and areas of cooperation will be identified to adequately and promptly respond to current challenges and threats. According to the Astana Times, a number of important documents, including the organization's development strategy until 2035, are expected to be signed at the summit.
