Thanh An Border Guard Station ( Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard) coordinated with the People's Committee of Thanh An Commune and Thanh An Secondary and High School to launch the program "Accompanying students of island communes" to contribute to caring for and supporting students in Thanh An island commune, Ho Chi Minh City.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Thanh An Middle and High School has 15 students in Thieng Lieng island hamlet, Thanh An commune, most of whom are in difficult circumstances.

Thieng Lieng Hamlet, about 7km away from the commune center by river, every day students have to take a boat from the gathering point at Thieng Lieng Border Control Station to the commune center to study, and in the afternoon take the boat back home.

Warm meal for students and parents of island commune.

In order to share some of the difficulties of the children and their families, the Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard Command agreed to create conditions for the local coordinating unit to organize the program "Meals with children going to school" at Thanh An Border Guard Station.

The funding source is from the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to support each student with 25,000 VND/day; the Border Guard Station, the People's Committee of Thanh An Commune and Thanh An Secondary and High School mobilized benefactors to support 10,000 VND/day. With a total amount of 35,000 VND/day, officers and soldiers of the Thanh An Border Guard Station will ensure lunch for the students.

Major Nguyen Dinh Tan, Political Commissar of Thanh An Border Guard Station, said: Every meal and every study hour at the unit is a vivid demonstration of the affection and responsibility of the border guards towards the children of the island commune. We hope that the model will become a solid support, giving them more strength to overcome difficulties in studying and training.

Folding beds and learning tools create conditions for children to study and practice.

In addition, Thanh An Border Guard Station also donated 15 folding beds, learning tools, living equipment, designed a space for reading and researching documents, creating conditions for children to study, practice, and develop comprehensively.

In addition, officers and soldiers of the station regularly coordinate with parents and schools to guide, orient, educate , and help children correctly perceive good values in life.

Previously, at the High School Graduation Exam last school year, the unit coordinated with the locality, school, and sponsors to organize the program "Accompanying the exam season from the sea and islands", meeting to encourage and give gifts to students before the graduation exam.

The model of “Accompanying students of island communes” of Thanh An Border Guard Station is an activity with profound humanistic meaning, contributing to caring for and nurturing the young generation on the front line; at the same time, continuing to affirm the role and responsibility of Ho Chi Minh City Border Guard in performing the task of protecting national sovereignty and border security associated with mass mobilization work, building solidarity between units, localities and people in the coastal border area.
