Geely has officially launched a brand new plug-in hybrid electric sedan (PHEV) called the Galaxy A7 EM-i. This is the company's first model developed based on the GEA (Geely Electric Architecture) electrification platform. The new 2025 Galaxy A7 EM-i sedan marks the debut of the new generation powertrain called Geely EM AI Super Hybrid 2.0, formerly known as Leishen or NordThor Hybrid 2.0.
In the expanding Galaxy product line, the A7 EM-i is positioned between the Galaxy L6 and Starshine 8, targeting young, modern customers who care about technology and energy efficiency. This model will also be a direct competitor to the BYD Seal 06 DM-i and BYD Qin L. Under the hood, the Galaxy A7 EM-i is equipped with a 1.5L gasoline engine (code BHE15-BFN) combined with a P3 electric motor for a total capacity of up to 175kW (~235 horsepower). This hybrid sedan can accelerate from 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds, with a maximum speed of 190km/h, while fuel consumption in low battery mode is only 2.67 liters/100km (according to CLTC standards). Notably, the engine's thermal efficiency reaches 47.26%, the highest level in the segment. Customers can choose from three LFP battery versions with different capacities: 8.5kWh; 18.4kWh and 18.99kWh, for pure electric ranges of 55, 70, 120 and 150km respectively, depending on the configuration. With support from the EM-i platform and a real-time intelligent energy management system, the vehicle can achieve a total mixed travel distance of more than 2,100km after a full charge and refueling.
Galaxy A7 has overall dimensions Length x Width x Height: 4,918 x 1,905 x 1,495 (mm), wheelbase reaches 2,845mm, helping to provide more spacious interior space. The car is equipped with 19-inch rims with Continental 235/45 R19 tires, integrated with many peripheral cameras to support the intelligent automatic driving system. The A7 EM-i cockpit has a similar design to its “brother” Starshine 8, including a 15.4-inch floating center screen, a 12.3-inch digital dashboard, and a two-spoke steering wheel. The car runs the Flyme Auto operating system that supports Apple CarPlay, Huawei HiCar, ICCOA, Flyme Link, OTA updates, AI scene recognition, and adaptive power management. The center console is neatly arranged with a steering wheel-mounted gear lever, wireless charging, hidden storage compartment and physical control buttons. The entertainment system includes a 16-speaker Flyme Sound system, a 16.6-inch HUD screen, a panoramic sunroof, and 256-color ambient lighting. The rear seats are designed to fold in a 40/60 ratio, supporting the expansion of the luggage compartment capacity from 535L to 988L.
Premium amenities include: heated, ventilated front seats, integrated speakers in the headrests and up to 8 massage modes. The rear seats have cushions up to 550 mm wide, reclining 120 degrees. The current selling price of the Galaxy A7 has not been announced by Geely but is expected to be in the range of 100,000 - 130,000 yuan (~363 - 472 million VND).
