This nearly 1-year-old baby elephant was identified as giving birth in the Na Lau area within the Elephant Species and Habitat Conservation Area. Through the camera trap images recorded on July 8, it can be seen that the baby elephant was moving around flexibly next to its mother and was protected by her.

The appearance of the baby elephant marks a positive sign of the natural reproduction of the wild elephant herd living in the reserve; it is the result of the tireless efforts of the Elephant Species and Habitat Management Board in protecting the forest, minimizing human-elephant conflicts and maintaining the natural habitat of the elephant herd.
This is also a positive signal showing that elephant conservation work here is on the right track, contributing to the conservation of the endangered Asian elephant species.
In 2020, with the support of the Green Annamites Project, the Elephant Species and Habitat Reserve also recorded the appearance of a baby elephant about 1 year old. And the wild elephant population here has a complete herd structure including male, female and calf elephants. To date, this population is recorded to have 9 individuals.
