International news agencies reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in North Korea at 3 a.m. on June 19 (local time), marking his first visit to the country in 24 years.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un personally welcomed Mr Putin at the airport. The two leaders shook hands and hugged each other, then traveled together in the Russian president's Aurus car to the Kumsusan Palace.
