Ninja Van withdraws from Vietnam express delivery market

(Dan Tri) - Ninja Van customers are advised not to create new orders because the company does not guarantee that all orders will be processed in full. The remaining orders will be processed and completed by September 30 at the latest.

In a recent surprising move, Nin Sing Logistics Company Limited (Ninja Van Vietnam) officially announced to customers via email that it will stop its express delivery service.

Customers are advised not to place new orders after this time as the company cannot guarantee that orders will be fully processed. All orders remaining in the system will be processed and completed by September 26 or refunded to customers no later than September 30.

Confirming with Dan Tri newspaper reporters, a representative of Ninja Van Vietnam shared that it will stop all express delivery services as part of the company's overall restructuring plan, in order to reallocate resources to focus on developing new logistics services in the future.

Ninja Van’s decision to stop its express delivery service comes amid fierce competition in the market, following a boom period and the rapid growth of e-commerce. Ninja Van’s representative also said that it is true that the market is undergoing real changes and the company also needs to change to be flexible.

When asked if they would return in the future, Ninja Van confirmed that there would be new services more suitable for Vietnam.

Founded in 2014, Ninja Van was founded by three shareholders, Lai Chang Wen, Boxian Tan and Shaun Chong, starting with just an old van with the initial goal of serving the transportation of fashion goods that the founders were operating.

Not long after, Ninja Van grew exponentially, reaching out beyond the country, with a presence across Southeast Asia such as Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines and Thailand, becoming one of the leading carriers in the region.

Since launching in Vietnam in 2016, Ninja Van has more than 4,000 delivery centers and points across countries in the region, processing over 2 million orders per day.

Fierce competition has made Ninja Van's business situation quite difficult recently, as the Southeast Asian delivery market has become a "price war". Sharing with Tech in Asia in May, Mr. Lai Chang Wen, CEO and co-founder of Ninja Van called it "a race to the bottom".
