In addition, patients may have skin ulcers in the area below the thrombosed vein, leg pain, prolonged leg edema, etc. Oral contraceptives are highly effective in preventing pregnancy and are easy to use, but they have many potential side effects, especially the risk of causing blood clots that can be life-threatening to the user.
From the above case, Dr. Linh recommends that women of childbearing age should not abuse birth control pills, especially regular use of emergency birth control pills. When detecting signs of edema, swelling, pain, purple limbs, shortness of breath, chest tightness, etc. during prolonged use of birth control pills, patients should promptly go to medical facilities to find appropriate examination and treatment options.
