The working group inspected the situation of overcoming the consequences of floods and landslides at Group 2, Yen Ninh Ward, Yen Bai City (Cao Lanh slope area, Dien Bien Street). At the same time, they inspected the situation of overcoming the consequences of landslides at Group 6, Yen Ninh Ward (area near Yen Bai Provincial Police).
Next, the Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics and Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council visited, encouraged and presented gifts to households whose houses were completely collapsed due to landslides in Group 10, Minh Tan Ward and to households with 2 relatives killed in the landslide in Group 11, Dong Tam Ward, Yen Bai City.
At the visited locations, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang sent his regards, encouragement and gifts to families affected by storm No. 3. At the same time, he expressed his hope that localities and units would continue to promote their full potential, the solidarity between the government and the people, continue to make efforts, unite together, overcome difficulties and quickly restore production, develop the economy, and stabilize life.
After inspecting the damage caused by floods in Yen Bai city, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang worked at the Provincial Fatherland Front Committee. Here, he listened to the provincial leaders report on preparations for responding to storm No. 3, the consequences and solutions to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3 in the province.
Accordingly, although the province has proactively responded and implemented measures to prevent storm No. 3 according to the "4 on-site" motto; checked, reviewed and organized guarding and control of residential areas, riverside areas, streams, reservoirs, areas at high risk of flooding, flash floods, landslides; proactively relocated and evacuated people to safe places... but with the very strong intensity of storm No. 3, Yen Bai province still suffered heavy human losses with 53 deaths; 1 person missing; 36 people injured.
Along with that, over 25,000 houses were damaged, of which 239 houses were completely collapsed, 271 houses were severely damaged... In addition, there were heavy losses in agriculture, industry, infrastructure, information and many other losses with a total estimated damage value of 4,635 billion VND.
Faced with the damage caused by storm No. 3, the province has urgently directed the provincial functional branches to increase forces, coordinate with local authorities to overcome the consequences of natural disasters, review and assess the damage and provide timely support to help households stabilize their lives soon. The forces have focused on searching for victims who died or went missing due to landslides, taking injured victims to emergency care; and supporting families to temporarily evacuate people and property from the landslide area to a safe place.
After listening to the report on the damage and the work to overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 3 in Yen Bai province, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang acknowledged and commended the efforts from the province to localities, grassroots and people in the work to overcome the damage caused by storm No. 3.
“Yen Bai is a locality that suffered heavy damage caused by storm No. 3. However, with solidarity, proactiveness and promoting the spirit of “4 on-site”, leaders, cadres, forces and people in Yen Bai province have been overcoming difficulties, both overcoming the consequences of the storm and restoring production, gradually stabilizing people's lives”, Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang emphasized.
In addition, Yen Bai province continues to direct and promote the implementation of infrastructure restoration, cleanup, and support for people affected by the storm. In particular, the province needs to pay attention to and take care of jobs and livelihoods for affected people. At the same time, there is a policy of postponing, extending, and reducing bank interest rates for people in disaster-hit areas. Along with that, it is necessary to promptly repair the transportation system, schools, and healthcare to ensure safety, control diseases well, and clean the environment after the storm, and soon stabilize people's lives.
On this occasion, Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang presented 1.5 billion VND in support to help Yen Bai province overcome the consequences of natural disasters.
