Faced with the complicated developments of African swine fever in Nghe An, many pig farming households are facing the risk of losing their entire pig herds, severely affecting their family economy .

According to Mr. Tran Vo Ba - Deputy Director of Nghe An Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, livestock farms with pigs forced to be destroyed due to African swine fever will receive support from the State if they meet the prescribed conditions.
Decree 116 clearly states that livestock farming households are eligible for support if they fall into one of the following cases: An epidemic has been declared and the facility is located in an epidemic area, an area threatened by an epidemic, or a buffer zone, with animals or animal products that must be destroyed according to regulations.
The epidemic has not been declared but the first or next outbreak in the same commune has a positive test result for a disease in the list of diseases required to be declared.

For newly emerging diseases that do not meet the conditions for epidemic declaration, there must be confirmation from the veterinary agency about the new infectious agent.
Accordingly, the support policy for pigs infected with African swine fever according to Decree 116/ND-CP is 40,000 VND/kg.
In addition, those who directly participate in fighting the epidemic are also supported at specific levels. Those who do not receive a salary from the budget are supported with 400,000 VND/person/working day and 500,000 VND/person/day off, holiday, and Tet. For those who receive a salary from the budget, the support levels are 150,000 VND/person/day and 300,000 VND/person/day, respectively. The support funds are mobilized from the State budget (central and local), along with contributions and sponsorships from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, international organizations, and other legal financial sources.
Mr. Tran Vo Ba recommends that, in order to receive support, people need to proactively report as soon as they detect signs of disease in pigs, coordinate with veterinary agencies to take samples for testing, and strictly follow the destruction and disinfection procedures. Concealing and selling sick pigs not only violates the law but also spreads the disease, causing damage to the entire community.
In addition to financial support, Nghe An authorities are synchronously implementing epidemic prevention measures: isolating outbreaks, disinfecting barns, controlling animal transportation, and educating people on biosafety farming. Close coordination between the government, veterinary sector and farmers is considered a decisive factor in controlling the epidemic.
Decree 116 is not only a legal framework for support activities but also demonstrates the State's concern for livestock farmers, contributing to stabilizing production, protecting the livestock industry and food safety.
It is known that since the beginning of the year, Nghe An has destroyed over 13,000 pigs infected with African swine fever, with a total weight of over 670 tons./.
