The national concert "What remains forever " is organized by Vietnamnet newspaper, under the direction of the Ministry of Information and Communications .

Olivier Ochanine: 'I love Vietnam'

Conductor Olivier Ochanine said he is a French and American citizen but was invited to conduct a national concert, taking place on a very special occasion for Vietnamese people, September 2.

"That shows that Vietnamese people are friendly and want to leave the past behind. So I feel very happy and honored," he said.

Conductor Olivier said he came to Vietnam in 2015 and has lived and worked here for 7 years.

"Vietnamese people are warm... Here, you can go out on the street and talk to anyone. This is something that you don't have in France or America.

"That's what makes the musical experience more fun and wonderful. At this point, the Sun Symphony Orchestra and I just want to live here," he said, adding: "I love Vietnam."

Olivier Ochanine is currently learning Vietnamese to be able to communicate in Vietnamese, as well as to be able to research the scores and meanings of Vietnamese songs.

This is the second year musician Tran Manh Hung has taken on the role of music director of Dieu con mai . He said "this is the most massive program" he has ever participated in.

According to the musician, at this special music event, meaningful artistic values, instrumental works, familiar artists and young singers are all honored.

Vietnamnet editor-in-chief Nguyen Van Ba said that in previous seasons there were many romantic songs that attracted young audiences.

When asked if this year's "Dieu con mai " is too "heavy" with the above music repertoire, Mr. Ba stated that music has no boundaries or limits within any framework.

The most important thing is that music must touch the listener's emotions.

" The Forever Thing has been alive for many years. The songs performed in the previous Forever Thing or Forever Thing 2024 have also lasted for decades, living forever with many generations of audiences," he said.

In addition to saxophone artist An Tran, the Oplus group, which participated in Dieu con mai 2023, this year has the participation of singers Trong Tan, Pham Khanh Ngoc, Phuc Tiep, Vu Thang Loi, Sao Mai 2015 chamber music champion Nguyen Bao Yen and the Ao linh group - artists working in the military.

Olivier Ochanine beat nearly 120 conductors from 23 countries around the world to win first prize at the Antal Dorati International Conducting Competition in Budapest, Hungary (2015).

He also won the prestigious music award The American Prize (2015), the International Symphony Conducting Competition in London, UK (2015).
