According to Tass, the United Arab Emirates has tried to mediate this humanitarian operation. The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that Russia has received 115 servicemen captured by Ukraine in Kursk. In return, 115 Ukrainian servicemen were returned to Ukraine by Russia.

Also according to Tass, Russian experts believe that Ukraine is trying to expand the conflict by attacking Russia's nuclear power plant in Kursk. The goal of the drone attack is to cause a Chernobyl-like disaster and contaminate all of Europe with radiation.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin also announced that Ukraine had attempted to attack the Kursk nuclear power plant. Mr. Putin said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) had been informed about the situation and that the IAEA had promised to send experts to assess the situation at the plant this week. The Kursk nuclear power plant is located nearly 60km from the Ukrainian border.

In a related development, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that it had increased artillery to Kursk province, where Russian troops have been fighting against thousands of Ukrainian soldiers who have been conducting a border incursion since August 6.
